If UCF goes undefeated again and misses out on the playoff, what's their plan moving forward? They can't help what conference they're in. In their conference, they beat Temple (who's 7-4), Memphis (who's 7-4), and then they just crushed Cincinnati, who's #24 and came in at 9-1. Their non conference games included a weak sister in Florida Atlantic (every school has at least one of those), North Carolina (cancelled due to the hurricane), and Pitt, who is 7-4 and sitting atop the ACC Coastal. They whipped Pitt 45-14.
So North Carolina and Pitt *should* be quality non-conference opponents. Nothing they can do about a hurricane cancelling the game. I am not sure if they have plans to make it up.
So the only thing I think UCF could do is to not play a patsy like Florida Atlantic, but schedule a team from the SEC or Big 10. Doesn't have to be Alabama, but maybe they put in their schedule a team like Wisconsin or Penn State or Mississippi State or Texas A&M. Something like that. But even then, I'm not sure they ever get voted in over a 1-loss Ohio State or 1-loss LSU or 1-loss Auburn - a power school from the SEC or Big 10.
What do you guys think their game plan should be moving forward? I think clearly swapping out Florida Atlantic for a quality team is a must, but otherwise....what can they do?
