The hallmark of Rex Ryan's Buffalo defenses in his first 24 games there has been undisciplined play. Here we are in week 8 of year 2 and there were major issues with players not knowing their assignments and an overall lack of communication. At what point do people start questioning Rex's reputation as a so-called defensive guru? Never mind getting fired as head coach, I don't think he's even fit to be a defensive coordinator based on what we are seeing.

Yeah I mean aside from the 40+ Brady dropped in Buffalo last year, and Thanksgiving 2012, and the 45-3 game, and the 37 Brady put up in NY in 2011. Brady's career PPG against Rex is like 28 or 29.
I looked it up last year, like half the time Rex's team faces the Pat they Pats score more than 30 points.

Rex in Buffalo: the Pats have scored 30 points or more in 2 out of 4 games (50%)
Rex in NY: the Pats score 30+ in 5 games out of 11 (45%).

Hey, if Rex has great corners and can blitz he's great. If not he sucks. Could happen to anyone. Rex inherited a really well stacked Jets team. Eric only got fired because the Farvelous one got hurt and they finished dreadfully. That squad was poised to make a run. They were 8-3 before it fell apart.

Rex came in with his rah rah bullshit and it must have seemed like a vacation for the players. It still took Indy throwing a game for us to get in the playoffs.

2010 was ok, they had a joke ass schedule and still almost gave it away towards end of season. A real coach might have got the SB that year BUT the foot fetish thing was weird leading up to the Pats game and for some reason the Pats players did not seem to take the Jets seriously and the Pats got fucked up that day. That Rex's best game. Jets were all over Tommy that day

Yeah that 2010 playoff game was a bitch. If Chung doesn't fumble that extremely ill-advised fake punt I wonder if things would have been different.

Problem is that Rex is basically living off that game. It's been 6 years and he hasn't accomplished jack since and hasn't improved one iota as a coach.

Yup. Don't forget Crumpler's huge TD drop. I'll always believe things would have been different had we scored that first TD.

I for one am not upset at the result of that one win, it has improved the Pat's odds of winning the division each year since. If you are going to loose a painful playoff game, I'd hope they all come with the silver lining of an over-rated coach being given more control in our division for the next decade. That is the very definition of a Lose/Win/Win/Win/Win/Win...

I'm still stunned the Bills hired him honestly, and even more stunned they doubled down on Ryans this year.

That game and the 2005 Broncos game are the 2 playoff losses in the BB/TB12 era that I just can't understand.

Jim Schwartz was running the D with Marrone as coach. They were 5th in the league in defense in their last year together. The Rex show arrived, blew that shit up and fired Schwartz, and the defense promptly regressed again.

Had the Bills any type of sense, they would have named Schwartz the coach once Marrone up and left.
And one more point in Schwartz' favor: Philly went from 30th in YPG & 28th in PPG defensively last year to 8th and 4th so far this year. The guy is a great DC. Not sure about how good of a head coach he can be, but he probably does deserve one more shot.

The Pegula era really has me excited. I saw this quote in a silver story.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000730931/article/tom-brady-dismantles-buffalo-bills-builds-on-mvp-candidacy

""This is how I think of Tom Brady," Bills owner Terry Pegula said after he and Kim finished watching Saturday's walkthrough at the fieldhouse next to New Era Field. "He's like McDonald's. Every time I go there, I always get the same thing -- because it works, and why would you get anything different? That's Brady. He's gonna come out and run the same, simple offense, and slide in the pocket and get rid of the ball quickly and throw it underneath to all those different receivers, and unless you can do something to stop him, he'll carve you to pieces.""

A couple of Bills players also talked about how straightforward the offense is. I assume that's Rex's big talking point this week (guys the offense isn't that complicated they just run a small number of plays out of a shitload of formations) but to see an owner talking about how simple the Pats' offense is (an offense that's been about the best in the NFl for a decase)--the day before his team gives up 41) suggests that Mr. Pegula is buying Rex's bullshit and is just kind of stupid about football.

I like how a multi-millionaire NFL owner admits he goes to McDonalds often. I wonder if he just gets like a McDouble off the dollar menu every time.

Edit: He's actually worth $4 Billion according to wikipedia. I guess you don't get to be that rich by splurging on things like 5 Guys or Chick Fil-A.

Except this McDonald's is serving Kobe beef sliders and has been getting five Michelin stars for the past 15 years.

Nice backhanded insults. Dink and dunk, simple, easy, that's Tom Brady! So f-ing simple and easy that the league has been unable to stop him outside of a few freak plays and otherworldly defenses.

Pegula probably loved yesterday's defensive gameplan when Rex laid it down.

Rex: "Last time we didn't blitz at all. This time we'll blitz all the time. Muhahahaha. They'll never see it coming and with their simple offense they'll never be able to adjust."

Pegula: "Brilliant!"

Gotta give Rex credit for going on it on those 4th downs instead of kicking the FG and settling for 3 points like many coaches would have done. He knew the only way to come back was to go for the TDs once they got so far behind

I feel like the thread title should be changed to something like "Dil-D'OH" or something like that, keeping in mind having "dildo" in the URL is bad for a lot of people at work.

Apparently Harvin is un-retiring and coming back to Buffalo.

Wew. I know the Bills receiving situation is bad, but how much can Harvin offer? His value is really as a returner. I guess with his speed, there's at least the threat of the deep ball with Taylor, but Goodwin is fast as hell.

I mean, you could at least check the radar, ask around, see if it's gonna be a quick delay (which of course it was). How in the fuck do you just up and leave on the verge of extra innings in Game 7 of the World Series? Even if you weren't a fan, which he supposedly is, you don't do that. You pull a damn all-nighter if you have to (which he wouldn't since they had a bus driver).

Bye bye Rex Ryan!
“@NFLonCBS: ”Rex Ryan could be fired as soon as Monday.“ - @JasonLaCanfora https://t.co/Mr8jQzz42G

@Smiling Joe Hesketh

The Bills are 6-6 but mired in internal turmoil and dissension again, and Rex Ryan's tenure at coach is believed to be nearing an end, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

It would take an overwhelming performance down the stretch for Ryan to be back in 2017, the sources said, and he could be out as soon as Monday, depending on the team's results against Pittsburgh.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor is losing the support of the front office and could soon be benched as well.

Ryan's relationship with general manager Doug Whaley and other Bills executives has always been rocky, and that has continued through this season. The front office continues to maintain the team has superior talent than the results indicate, a message that has been repeated to owner Terry Pegula regularly.

The Ryan/Whaley relationship is not tenable long term, which ownership is aware of, and a lopsided loss to the Steelers on Sunday might be enough to spur an in-season coaching change, sources said. Regardless, Ryan would have to win his remaining games or come close to it to secure a return next season, given the strained relationships and behind-the-scenes foibles of Ryan's regime.

"I'd say I'm 95 percent sure Rex is gone by the end of the season," said one source who has been in contact with Pegula and other Bills brass, "and he could be out as soon as Monday."

Noooooooooooooooooo...........ooooooooooo.....ooooooo!

The NFL without Rex is like, um, what am I going for here? The Gong Show without The Unknown Comic?

Some sad team will hire him. He won't be out of a job for long.

Not so sure about that....the curtain on the wizard has been opened and it's...just sad lil Rexy. I suspect he can get a DC job but not a HC job.

How quickly things turn.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Rex Ryan says he believes the Buffalo Bills have "won the offseason" and on Thursday challenged other teams to match what his team has done this spring.

"I'm excited about this team," Ryan said after the Bills' final minicamp practice. "Obviously a lot of things have to happen, and we're a month or so away, but I told our players today to 'win July.' We won the offseason. I would challenge any team. I think we've won the offseason."

Ryan is the Anti BB. while BB takes away 1 or 2 things you do well. Ryan just takes something away.
Its like he looked at the 93 Cowboys, Took Kevin Williams Out of the Game, then crowed about it.
