Might have been a bit tired from all the unearned Penalty Killing...They were doing well for most of the third but they weren't executing all that great in the final 5.
Marcus Foligno Drops The Gloves With Trent Frederic - YouTubeHelps when they keep tacking on extra ones for Frederic... anyone get a video to see when he "high sticked" the guy?
3 checks out.How many games do we think they suspend Frederic for what shouldn’t have even been a penalty? I’ll guess 3.
But after my second viewing, I actually think he's probably correct, except the hit wasn't *quite* from behind. It's not a hit I would have wanted a Bruin to take (let's be honest, we would be FURIOUS if it had been Bergy instead of a Wild player).”Really frustrated with how Kirill got hurt,” Evason told The Athletic. “I mean, it’s a predatorial hit, one that the league … I mean, we don’t want that, right? The puck is sitting right there. You know what he’s doing. He’s going to hurt our best player. There’s no question that there is no intention … That is not a hockey play. The puck’s sitting right there. All he has to do is take the puck and go. And in a vulnerable position, you hit a player from behind.”
I am 100% in agreement with you here. I didn't even think it was a penalty, and it was only because he awkwardly went into the boards sideways that he hurt his shoulder.i’m okay with that being a penalty, but the calls of it being a “predatory hit” are absurd IMO…Frederic didn’t run him over, target the head, or rub him out into the wall. If you want to call boarding I can see that, he went for a hit rather than the puck. But I don’t even think he hit him that hard, it was just awkward.
yeah, but have you eVeR pLaYeD tHe GaMe?!I am 100% in agreement with you here. I didn't even think it was a penalty, and it was only because he awkwardly went into the boards sideways that he hurt his shoulder.
Wasn't that Cohn? I though Mess said Esa was lazy and the team didn't give him opportunities? (Not enough room on the PP)Unfortunately the over the top media crap that Marchand got and still gets is probably a big factor in that attitude. Don’t get me wrong he’s done some less than stellar things but man has he been singled out and then by extension his teammates get caught up in it.
Edit. Different eras of course but Messier last night compared Marchand to Esa Tilkkanen. And Tikkanen barely got any grief for his antics.
This is where I'm at. One game. I didn't like the hit in real time, but when I saw the replay it was clear that TF had KK lined up well before KK started going down. Evason's only destroying his own credibility for future situations where mal intent is much more clearly evident. Until skates come with ABS, the Wild coach should quit crying wolf. The big thing I see is Frederic doesn't extend at all, tucks the shoulder and glides into the hit. I think if Kaprizov doesn't start falling as Frederic lines him up it's a run of the mill boarding penalty. Not a good hit and will probably get a game, which I'm probably fine with, but imagine Evason is playing it up a bit as well given his best player just got hurt.
But you are right... the Boston Bruins still have the plodding non-finesse team of Lucic days and before... even though they have been transitioned to a more finesse team for a while now. So teams are allowed to come in scrums and punch guys twice in the face... and the Bruins player is just supposed to take it even though it's wide out in the open and the ref is looking right at them... and if the Bruins player does do anything? at best it's matching minors, but more often than not it's off to the penalty box alone.Well I’m glad you guys don’t think I’m crazy.
But again- are we the baddies?
Edit: I guess I’m not actually asking the question. I broke my cardinal rule of not reading comments and got worked up. My bad.
