Is Mac Jones the biggest bust in Patriots history?

There was no other realistic option to draft a QB for the Pats. Mills in the first was never going to happen and a trade likely would not produce another second. Mac was the perfect trap for us.

    The next OC?

Any successful system is going to be so tailored to the players that it's not all that relevant.

End of an Era: Bill Belichick and Patriots to part ways

Certainly don't want to take anything away from Rehbein as the first advocate but he obviously couldn't have done all the Patriots scouting on Brady since he only just joined the team.

End of an Era: Bill Belichick and Patriots to part ways

I mean, you're talking about the guy that scouted and advocated for Tom Brady. Plus Parcells learned to love Terry Glenn, who is still one of the best receivers the Patriots knew in terms of yards and catches per game. (although perhaps unfortunately)

End of an Era: Bill Belichick and Patriots to part ways

Obviously poor decisions of meddling by ownership can ruin an otherwise good franchise, but is there a lot of evidence that the Krafts can't buy good groceries?

Maye I Start Another? Pats! Steelers! Thursday!

Yeah Zappe is clearly garbage. Why would we ever give him a start over Mac? The only reasonable thing to do is to ride Mac and hope he figures it out.

Bullshit. Geisicki doesn't need to be rocking back and forth like that. He's set enough to try it. Plus getting set is paced by the QB. Mac had zero urgency because he never even noticed.

That's a safety, and you literally proved my point. And that "magic" is generally called a GO command.

There is no back on him. The Pats are already set in this image. It takes another second or two for the D to recognize it. (Stevenson is at the top of the image.) Easy yardage at least, maybe a a chance at a big play.

This is the Mac fuck up that raged me the most. Stevenson performs a great play fake going to the sideline and is all alone, uncovered, begging for the ball. Mac doesn't even look his way. If the job of finding a new QB is difficult then why aren't we suiting up Air Bud at this point? Why are...

    Did Tom Brady Ruin Us?

I'm not the one struggling with reading comprehension. I'm the one that posted that. I'm the one that said Brady 2006 says 6-1. But I didn't say it as yet another Brady/Mac comparison. I offered it as an obvious best case scenario for a QB with weak tools. You decided to make it about defenses.

This is you imagining goal posts in Medfield. Never claimed this D was as good, just that it's not the multiplier you say it is. Just because they had trouble catching Hurts doesn't mean they were gassed. They held the Eagles to, by far, their worst offensive performance this year so far. The...

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

You honestly think this year's defense has not kept the Pats competitive? You think Brady, or any other experienced and collected QB couldn't have won the Eagles game? LV was only kicking field goals against us and that's on the 2023 defense? The only blow outs were DAL and NO with 3 turnovers...

Well I'm really bringing this thread together. The point is to find a bad situation offensively and compare QBs in those situations. I bring up the 2006 Pats because it's one the we know and can review if need be. Watching this absolute garbage game against the Bears in 2006 shows us a view of...

I mean if you want to adjust for defense we can clearly take away this year's win over the Jets as well, leaving Mac with a single win this season. I'm trying to get away from better team makes better numbers arguments and focus on what Mac delivers in bad games.

The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

2006 Brady says 6-1. The whole speculation that a better team means more wins is a bit circular. The fair evaluation of Mac is how he responds in bad situations compared to other good QBs. The Hunter Henry play was probably the most encouraging thing we've seen from resent Mac. It mattered, he...

The first 5 1/2 minutes of O'Sullivan's QB School are brutal on Mac. That play we all assumed DeVante Parker was just dogging it in the red zone was in fact quite the opposite. Mac doesn't know the playbook.

The value in seeing someone, anyone other than Mac at starting QB, is the mentality of leadership the role is supposed to have and he clearly lacks. I don't care if Zappe or whoever doesn't have the talent in practice or the arm to make highlight throws in game. I want to see how this offense...
