For sure.Kyrie probably pushed the Phoenix rumor to get the third year player option from Cuban.
Now that would be hilarious. Followed by the Pacers attaching first round picks to Brown next summer to get off the contract.Yikes
The Pacers may be prepared to offer Nuggets free agent Bruce Brown a contract worth more than $20MM per season, sources tell Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
Team option for year 2 which changes everything, not a bad deal for a team that needs to spend something. Now that would be hilarious. Followed by the Pacers attaching first round picks to Brown next summer to get off the contract.
really critical for teams to hit the salary floor with the new CBA. You lose a ton of money if you don'tTeam option for year 2 which changes everything, not a bad deal for a team that needs to spend something.
I love this because you just know Kyrie didn’t want to end up here but he did this to himself - he’s out of options…for now.Lol Suns visit cancelled

and a player option? Mark Cuban is such an immense sucker it's hillarious
They’ve been linked to PJ Washington, so my guess is that’s where the money will go.get ready for a seemingly insane deal from HOU, they're way below the floor, they supposedly are offerring FVV a huge 2 year deal, but rumor is TOR might keep him on less AAV by going 4 years.
After him basically every player worth signing to a big deal is restricted...so huge 1-2 year deal for DeAngelo Russell? Max offer to a restricted guy (Reaves, Grant, Washington?) maybe they eat a contract, but who is looking to pay to dump one that hasn't already?
Maybe, but... have to go so high that CHA won't match and it ties you up for 24 hours during which other guys will sign. They’ve been linked to PJ Washington, so my guess is that’s where the money will go.
They will need 2 or 3 contracts that size most likely to reach the floor. Got to be some trash contracts they can getThey’ve been linked to PJ Washington, so my guess is that’s where the money will go.
I gasped out loud when I saw this. Oh my goodness.Lol Suns visit cancelled

Grant is hoping that everyone ahead of him in the pecking order gets matched lol.Maybe, but... have to go so high that CHA won't match and it ties you up for 24 hours during which other guys will sign.
Honestly.... wonder if they strike out everywhere then offer to take Ben SImmons for a future 1st
I’m not sure that $78 million is the going rate for a #1. Simmons is bench fodder at this point. He would get Houston to the floor, but if Udoka got the Rockets back on track and they became a viable player in the market, they’d be limited by that deal.Maybe, but... have to go so high that CHA won't match and it ties you up for 24 hours during which other guys will sign.

There's always a bigger idiot.I gasped out loud when I saw this. Oh my goodness.
Gracious. Of all the dramatic things…I gasped out loud when I saw this. Oh my goodness.
Yeah, but with basically only minimum money available. Getting a bunch of playable guys is a big winSuns getting good players, but all limited ones. Still nice work by them
You think letting Kyrie walk for nothing and losing the salary slot is smart? Losing Brunson was a far worse transaction for this organization. There's always a bigger idiot.
Mark Cuban is high on the list of people I thought were much smarter than they actually are.
were those the 2 options.... sign Kyrie to that deal or he goes to Houston.... because I REALLY don't think they wereYou think letting Kyrie walk for nothing and losing the salary slot is smart?
Nope. And they spent the assets to get him. You have to actually give it a chance. I know they didn't play well together down the stretch, but they need to see what it will look like with a camp etc.You think letting Kyrie walk for nothing and losing the salary slot is smart?
What was the other option other than retaining the asset and slot?were those the 2 options.... sign Kyrie to that deal or he goes to Houston.... because I REALLY don't think they were
Lots of dumb decisions going back a long time. You think letting Kyrie walk for nothing and losing the salary slot is smart? Losing Brunson was a far worse transaction for this organization.
What were Kyrie's options is my point. They gave him a huge deal with a player option. The only other place that could give him a significant offer was HOU, and neither side showed even the slightest interest in that. Kyrie's flirtations were all with S&T destinations like PHX... the Mavs SHOULD have leverage there. Instead they gave him a very player friendly offer 5 seconds into FA. I would expect a more team friendly deal to have been their intial offer, and to explore S&T if Kyrie won't sign it.What was the other option other than retaining the asset and slot?
If they can figure out the end of game sequences they are a pretty good team. All those 4Q leads then neither knew who was supposed to be the aggressive shot maker. Every game ended with uncertainty....they didn't really play bad aside from that.Nope. And they spent the assets to get him. You have to actually give it a chance. I know they didn't play well together down the stretch, but they need to see what it will look like with a camp etc.
I doubt this was decided 5 seconds into FA but rather agreed upon last winter prior to the trade being completed. It was already done once Dallas decided to make the deal. What were Kyrie's options is my point. They gave him a huge deal with a player option. I mean possible (though they could have always pulled a Morey), but yeah to me it seems like a terrible idea, I thought it was a bad trade, and then you're bidding against yourself, then you're giving a guy like Kyrie extra control on the 3rd year.... it's just not at all a well thought out plan. Which is almost always the case with Cuban, who is sneakily one of the worst owners in the league, no plan, just vibes and twitter fightsI doubt this was decided 5 seconds into FA but rather agreed upon last winter prior to the trade being completed. That seems like a HUGE bargain looking at some of the other contracts signed today and the murky future in NO.View: https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1674931661593620481?t=WUeAx0Ae6GKM4hmPiyjd0w&s=19
Pels didn't exercise the option on Herb to get him on a long term deal earlier, got a nice reasonable 4/54
Yeah I assume it was a package deal... We turn down your super-cheap option and you give us a solid discount, like baseball teams buying out arbitration yearsThat seems like a HUGE bargain looking at some of the other contracts signed today and the murky future in NO.
Portland saw the Tobias Harris deal from a few years ago and said yeah, that's 100% the way to go.
consensus was they had agreement on the deal before turning down the option, which is how these things go.That seems like a HUGE bargain looking at some of the other contracts signed today and the murky future in NO.
Might as well be talking about the Luka era in Dallas here. If they lost Kyrie, as you note that's a ton of value walking out the door that they just can't recoup, which will make Luka want to leave. Since they've re-signed Kyrie at big money, he will inevitably blow it all up, which will make Luka want to leave.I doubt this was decided 5 seconds into FA but rather agreed upon last winter prior to the trade being completed. It was already done once Dallas decided to make the deal.
They weren't bidding against themselves if Kyrie's people don't give Dallas that assurance at an agreed upon number.I mean possible (though they could have always pulled a Morey), but yeah to me it seems like a terrible idea, I thought it was a bad trade, and then you're bidding against yourself, then you're giving a guy like Kyrie extra control on the 3rd year.... it's just not at all a well thought out plan. Is 29 the prime for a 6'1 guard that shot 34% from 3 and 39% from the field last year? Maybe. At least it's only 3 years.
Do you think it was a good move for Dallas? Both the trade and signing? They weren't bidding against themselves if Kyrie's people don't give Dallas that assurance at an agreed upon number.
The Rockets had to make the salary floor somehow. I’m praying that this signals the end of the KPJ era in Houston.
