This loss shocked me. Let me change that, this loss completely fucking stunned me. If they lost a close game I would be shocked. They got completely fucking punked, at home.

I think Tatum’s 36/10/5 is the emptiest “good” stat line I’ve seen in a while. Superstars can’t start big games so poorly like he has the last two. He has to set the tone.

The Jays had 60 points on 47 shots, and missed 7 FTs.

This loss is on the supporting cast laying an egg
This is it. Horford and the guards were 7-29 for 28 total points.

Cs actually won the turnovers and the assists, so there are SOME positive signs. It really could be as simple as variance three-point shooting. If they go 16-38 from three, it's a tie game.

Another job I can't have: beat reporter at post-game interview session.

"Why the fuck did you suck tonight? That question is for any of you."

"Joe, when it was clear that Al had nothing left in his legs tonight -- seriously, they were fucking HOLLOW -- why didn't you pull him?"

"Hey, Jayson, would you say that your stat line doesn't tell the full story of how much you sucked tonight, or that it's good that Bill Russell is dead and didn't see this abomination because it would have killed him?"

Even if they turn it around, they could be facing Miami, against a much better coach than Doc, on much less rest than the Heat.

Truly deja vu, yes

Deja vu. The Celtics were in the same position last season and beat the Bucks.
They looked so much better though. Yeah, they blew Game 5 but you had a feeling that they were still going to pull it out. Something seems off with this team that I didn’t sense last season despite some frustrating failures to close games.

Last I checked, it's 3-2. Last I checked, there's still games to be played. Last I checked, it's not a best of fucking five.

And last I checked, we're winning this whole fucking thing.

People that watched the game understand he wasn’t good. That stat line was completely empty

Don't forget the free throws.

Yes, Horford was 0 for 7 for the game, wide open for most of those and every time in key moments.

I just don’t see how coaching changes anything with this game or this team. It’s a good but not perfect team that is extremely streaky.
This is the modern NBA. The team that wins the title each year will have games where they are blown out in the playoffs

The Warriors lost by 40 to the Grizzlies last year.

Meh. It’s on them too.
Tatum’s slow start was bad, but he battled offensively. Brown left a lot of points out there.

However, the other six guys in the rotation all sucked, with Smart the least worst. Al and MB were stone garbage. TL was unimpactful. Grant was horrible. White got destroyed defensively,

Embiid has completely intimidated the whole team from going inside too. Nobody but really Tatum is attacking the rim looking to score. Everything is a drive and kick without even looking at the rim.
Tatum looks like Simmons vs the Atlanta meme a lot of the time. He got some shit going on those cringey lean away, cross body floaters, but even he is doing the darnold thing and seeing ghosts.

Edit: he had one great attack of embiid, but seemed like embiid was out of position a little

Heads we win the title; tails we fire the coach. It’s a win/win scenario.

At a certain point Tatum either needs to take these kinds of games to heart, or he’s not the kind of guy you build a championship team around. Maybe he is better suited to be a really good second banana a la Kobe in the early 2000s but as now he just doesn’t have that killer instinct that the really great players do.

And yes I get he scored 35. But the eye test makes clear he’s not quite there yet.

I wasn't especially optimistic going into Game 6 last season, to be honest.

We''ll see if it makes any difference, but if they were going to lose tonite, I'm almost happier that it was a blowout. This way they can't tell themselves they were right there.

Cs were under 50% on two-point shots. 6ers were 50% on all shots. And C's missed twice as many FTs.

I agree that everyone contributed to the loss. Brown and Tatum did less worse, but they weren’t great. It was a team loss all around.

Embiid was also simply dominant tonight. 10-23, 10-11 FTs, 33 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, and four blocks, and at critical moments. The Jaylen block was special stuff, as was him getting back up to block White. Amazing secondary jump for a guy that big.

I can see them pulling it out Thurs, but no faith in them closing a g7 at home. Hope im wrong.
How the Jays just disappear in big games is wild. Tatums stat line is the most hollow line of stats in forever.

Agreed. So can the announcers stop with the "serious knee injury" bullshit?

People that bring that up are just not serious people. He was inefficient and couldn’t stem the tide when it mattered.

But, you know what, it’s just one game. I won’t question the man’s desire. He has a chance to rewrite the script in Game 6

I fear Embiid is going to go completely off on Thursday. He has never come close to beating the Celtics and now he has the opportunity. Blood in the water.

Philly played great. Their big three performed. They got production from Harris. Their bench out scored the Boston bench until garbage time

They lost two to Atlanta and had to really push to close out the last game. Been pretty mediocre here. I think they are just not that good in all the same ways we saw during the season. We were duped by the regular season games when they felt like playing hard.

I have a feeling that he’s not the title obsessed alpha we need before we even take the court. This team comes out nonchalantly far too often. If he’s the leader of the team, he’s not setting the right tone in the locker room.

Maybe the Celtics aren't really the dominant team they were in November? I don't get this thought process that the Celtics are some sort of powerhouse who should easily win.

The other teams want to win too.
