Ramona Shelbourne pointed out that Iggy is a former Pelinka client, so LAL will be targeting him if/when he gets bought out
That would be a great choice to add to a team that doesn't have anyone that will play 82 games.Ramona Shelbourne pointed out that Iggy is a former Pelinka client, so LAL will be targeting him if/when he gets bought out
It would be a tremendous gift from the Warriors organization. This is akin to trading directly with your heated rival that makes them better. That would be a great choice to add to a team that doesn't have anyone that will play 82 games.
That's my point - if Kawhi has planned to go to the Clippers all along, he has an incentive to drag the Lakers along until all the other max guys have signed elsewhere so that when he signs with the Clippers, the Lakers have nowhere else to turn. What other max players?
That seems pretty Machiavellian for an NBA playerThat's my point - if Kawhi has planned to go to the Clippers all along, he has an incentive to drag the Lakers along until all the other max guys have signed elsewhere so that when he signs with the Clippers, the Lakers have nowhere else to turn.
It's admittedly a pipe dream with no basis in fact.
Not really a league. Just a few weird players and KL is probably the weirdest. It's so strange to me that Kawhi is going to join the Lakers and lebron.
What a weird ass league of babies.
I felt this way a little yesterday but thinking about it this morning, what's the point?Honestly, if Kawhi signs I will basically just enjoy the NBA for what it is -- there are enough subplots to keep the league interesting. Being a fan is unhealthy enough, and the championship or bust mentality is just doubly so. Of course, I will enjoy a hearty dose of schadenfreude if they still get eliminated in some laughable fashion, because who wouldn't?
I already gave up football, and my baseball consumption is purely radio-based, aside from the 2-3 games I attend every year. Never cared about hockey.I felt this way a little yesterday but thinking about it this morning, what's the point?
I think it's my tipping point to just quit it altogether. Save myself a bunch of time.
If Kawhi does not come, the Lakers are in a really tough spot. One would assume shooting and defense are a priority. FA happened so fast this year, the Lakers are left looking at KCP, Danny Green, Tollivor (who plays the wrong position), Mook (if you believe his improved shooting is real and who also plays the wrong position). After that group you descend to trash like Stauskas, Jodie Meeks, Jimmer. My tea-leaf reading is that Bullock to the Knicks means the Lakers are very confident in Kawhi. If the Lakers thought they may miss on Kawhi, and would have to spread the cap space around, they would be telling Bullock to wait around, and that they would top any offer he got elsewhere. Bullock's low cap hold is hugely valuable for the Lakers in the scenario where they need to sign a bunch of role players instead of a star. The fact that Bullock didn't wait suggests to me the Lakers didn't send that sort of "wait for Kawhi" message, which in turn suggests they think they're getting Kawhi.
Obviously this would require Bullock to be willing to wait around for like a 2/$30M offer from the Lakers if they miss on Kawhi, so this is hugely speculative.
I had speculated prior to free agency that they could split the money between Collison, Danny Green and Cousins. Collison is out but swap in Rondo and that's theoretically still in play. I'd expect Iggy to end up there one way or another. Can still tap Korver, Chandler and JR Smith as minimum salary guys. KCP with the room exception. It's not just Kawhi or bust for them.If Kawhi does not come, the Lakers are in a really tough spot. One would assume shooting and defense are a priority. Really? This is your tipping point? Because Kawhi is choosing to either stay where he is with a much better supporting cast than the Clippers (Gallo is literally your best player) or play with two superstars instead of choosing the most mediocre middling option?I felt this way a little yesterday but thinking about it this morning, what's the point?

Even if Kawhi does commit, it will be kind of fascinating to see how the Lakers fill out the rest of the roster. It probably won't matter all that much, but they do need at least some depth for inevitable in-season injuries/periods of rest for the stars. If Kawhi does not come, the Lakers are in a really tough spot. I'll take him going back to the Raptors. My tipping point is him joining the Lakers. That's just insane to me. Like what's the fucking point?Really? This is your tipping point? The point is to live in Los Angeles (pretty much where he's from) instead of Canada, and maybe to play with a couple of guys he's always wanted to play with, and maybe have a much more secure shot at NBA titles? Unlike Durant, Kawhi has already passed the "can he win it being the unquestioned leader on the team" test. KD still has to prove that he can win without a team of all-NBA guys around him. Kawhi just did that and his legacy is secured from that standpoint. Maybe now he'd just like to win a handful more titles where he doesn't have to carry the load.I'll take him going back to the Raptors. My tipping point is him joining the Lakers. So I guess you didn’t see Woj’s latest tweet?Clipps trade for Harkless. What a great offseason
I saw it. Doesn't change anything. They'll field a decent 9-10 seed team.So I guess you didn’t see Woj’s latest tweet?
Woj is the Ramona of the Clippers. So I guess you didn’t see Woj’s latest tweet?
If it's Lebron, AD, and Kawhi, they are the new Golden State, presumptive favorites. Just wait and watch the pieces fall in place around them. We're talking about 3 of the 5 or 6 best players on Earth, playing on a single team (while two of the other 10 best players in the world are out for the season).Kawhi going to the Lakers would be a bummer, and would be enough to make them strong favorites. That said, they'd be less than like 50% to win the title or anything, so sort of a far cry from the league we've recently been living with. It sort of sucks since it's the Lakers falling ass backwards into these guys, but that's not gonna change until you get rid of the max contract.
That's really it. When you think about consensus top-10 NBA players, every rational list will have LeBron, Kawhi, and AD among the top 5-6 easy. Throw in Harden, Giannis, Curry, and Durant? So maybe 3 of the top 7? All on one team. You could put me on that team and they'd stand a chance. If it's Lebron, AD, and Kawhi, they are the new Golden State, presumptive favorites. While true, the Heat had prime LeBron/Wade/Bosh but still couldn’t beat a much less talented Mavs team so there will be hope. And I think the NBA is far more talented in 2019 than it was back in 2011.If it's Lebron, AD, and Kawhi, they are the new Golden State, presumptive favorites. What's your wingspan? It's all about the wingspan. That's really it. When you think about consensus top-10 NBA players, every rational list will have LeBron, Kawhi, and AD among the top 5-6 easy. Well at 6'0" tall, I have about a 6'4" wingspan and I'm a pretty good player. But obviously I was kidding. What's your wingspan? It's all about the wingspan.
For further context, his big "hits" were Horford to the Sixers and the 4 teams in the AD trade weeks beforehere's his background -- I guess he moved from reddit to twitter: https://www.reddit.com/user/RDAmbition/posts/
No idea how to judge legitimacy in the redditverse, not my world.
Those are pretty big hits. Hope he’s wrong although I’m already mentally thereFor further context, his big "hits" were Horford to the Sixers and the 4 teams in the AD trade weeks before
Ballmer, West and Rivers isn't as starry as what the Lakers can put out, but I think I'd rather have dinner with those three.Kawhi is meeting with Clippers tonight.
Supposedly Kurt Rambis is on some Lakers board letting all the dirt about their meeting out. I guess it will say something about Kawhi if he chooses the Lakers.Someone is telling me that twitter account belongs to Jeannie Buss’ nephew. Reddit supposedly doxed him which is why he deleted his account.
Grain of salt.
What is he saying?Supposedly Kurt Rambis is on some Lakers board letting all the dirt about their meeting out. I guess it will say something about Kawhi if he chooses the Lakers.
If he’s a low key guy who doesn’t want much attention, why not get shade under brighter stars? He’s already proven himself as a clear alpha. It’s not quite Durant or LeBron and Bosh in Miami.Supposedly Kurt Rambis is on some Lakers board letting all the dirt about their meeting out. Maybe not, but Jerry West has built multiple NBA champions and Jeanie Buss has built multiple dumpster fires.Ballmer, West and Rivers isn't as starry as what the Lakers can put out, but I think I'd rather have dinner with those three.
