Denver isn't that good is the reality. Without a big effort by their defense, they are in trouble.
Not in Denver, so he's got a little more to worry about and pushed it right...
Shouldn't that have been intentional grounding?I thought the ball had to make it to the LOS even when you're out of the pocket
This game is further proof that the AFC West is, perhaps by far, the league's most competitive division.
Also, where does Philip Rivers rank in the list of "most underappreciated QBs"? Tony Romo wins going away, of course, but Rivers has got to be top-5 if not top-3.

To what end? Pax ain't leading a comeback of at least 2 scores with less than a quarter left.
Denver offense almost looked good for a minute there, but basically just because tempo had the SD defense back on its heels.
Last drive- Man, SD just can't give Rivers any time at all to throw the ball. Rivers is frustrated.
Next drive Nance and Simms- center Matt Slauson has really solidifies this o-line. You need a center who can call out assignments and is a leader. SD found their leader.

I have less issue with the FG / punt decision than the fact that SD is already just trying to run the ball every play to kill the clock.
It's amazing for how complex a sport football is that overall team success basically comes down to 1 position on the field
I love the punt on fourth down there, and not just because how it worked out. I loved the playcalling even more. Run, Run, Run, Run, eat clock, chomp, chomp...You eliminate Von Miller strip sacking Rivers, or Talib taking one to the house, and you eliminate Denver's chance to get back into the game. If Semian can go 97 yards for a TD here, more power to him. I'm betting on the SD defense on this series. Denver's defense is their only chance to get them back in this.
