Fowler is just close to having a great day, but just good.

Great shot by Tiger to leave 8-10 feet for par

That was not a good looking swing with the 3 wood from Tiger. Man, that stinger used to be fucking automatic. I miss that shot.

Can’t believe people actually thought he had a chance to win this thing. He’s back from the abyss but he’s still a long ways away and I doubt he ever approaches what he used to be.

He looked way better in the last two tournaments he played in. He looks awful compared to what he looked like a month ago.

Almost everyone looks pretty awful out there at the moment. The wind is barely blowing, and the greens aren't completely outrageous, but the struggles we're seeing are throughout the field. This course is so, so frustrating, and requires you to grind so hard on every shot, and every putt, because a tiny mistake can put you in a spot that immediately brings a big number into play. It's such an awesome tournament because of that.

Zach Johnson...he just keeps turning up in majors. Can't say I've ever been a fan of his (negatively or positively), but to keep hanging with the younger, bigger hitters in today's game is impressive. Of course, it's still very early.

Double major winner Zach Johnson is milquetoast but he's fun to root for.

Hate is a bit strong. I think some of the reason people don't like following him is that he doesn't have any sort of dominant skill. He's a very talented player who is also an exceptional grinder who wears down the course and the competition, but doesn't excite anyone.

Regardless, I like the kid and wish we were watching him.
I can’t speak to others - and not to single your post out from the other similar ones - but I don’t like him and it’s got nothing to do with his game. I don’t care how you score, if you’re DJ bombing it that’s cool; if you’re Bubba creating crazy shot shapes that’s cool; if you’re Phil and you can flop a ball into a soup can hats cool too. And so on and so forth. He’s an amazing golfer and I’m not sure many people pin point his game as a reason to not like him as opposed to a reason not to be particularly impressed (which could be a distinction without a difference, ymmv).

Speaking for myself, it’s hard to put a finger on. He seems prepackaged, like he was built in a PR conference room; he’s bland and milquetoast personality wise; and perhaps my biggest annoyance (which is partly not his own fault, since he gets so much camera coverage on course) are his histrionics after every shot. The ball has barely left the face of the club and he’s already complaining about it, on almost every shot; he needs a 3 minute conversation with his caddie before every shot; he spends half his round pouting if he plays poorly or if he plays well talks about the phenomenal shots he made after it.

It’s hard to explain, just like in life when someone rubs you the wrong way. It doesn’t always reduce to ‘he doesn’t hit it a country mile, so it’s not exciting’. He could hit it like Fred Funk or John Daly and it wouldn’t change either way for me. He’s a damn great golfer and seems like a good kid - the way he cares for his sister and family is really heart touching - and I’ll never root against* him, but I also don’t particularly expect myself to ever root for* him.

So you don't like him because his hat is blue?

I can pretty much agree with it, especially the 2nd paragragh. For lack of a better example He's golf's Taylor Swift.

I have no idea what your point is, but I love blue. I also have no idea why people get so worked up when others say they don’t like him. People love and hate every great golfer - Tiger, Phil, Bubba, Nicklaus, Miller, Faldo - for various reasons, a lot of which are just personal taste. Again, much like the guy in your group of friends that everyone loves but rubs you he wrong way and you don’t really care if he hangs out or not, even though he didn’t do anything to you personally. Weren’t you just complaining about Horschels pants or was that someone else?
