Off-topic a bit, but I've seen that the Nationals are locked into the 10th pick of the draft, despite their record. Could someone explain why the happened?
It's an odd quirk with the draft lottery and revenue sharing. Teams that don't receive revenue sharing money aren't allowed to have a top 6 (lottery) pick in consecutive seasons. Teams that do get that money max out at two consecutive years picking in the top 6. Teams that fit either of those criteria can pick no higher than 10th. The Nats picked #2 last year and don't receive revenue sharing money, so they're ineligible for the lottery for this draft and get bumped to 10th even though by record they should be in the 5th/6th position.

Seriously, are there two worse wild card teams in history besides 2023 Miami and 2023 Arizona? When we could have had Cincinnati, San Diego, or even the Cubbies, who are all much better and much more entertaining.

Jordan Luplow got the loss in Colorado - Minnesota gave up in the 11th unwilling to burn any more arms.

The fifth best team in MLB had just 91 wins, slim pickings this year after the top four teams.

Cincinnati's run differential was -38 and their pitching staff ranked ahead of only the Nats and Rockies. I was rooting for them because they're a young, small market team from Ohio and I have friends who are fans, but there's really no argument that they're better than the D-Backs. The Cubs are only interesting when they're making their fans suffer, so mission accomplished. Arizona is also a young team that could be pretty good in the near future, so a few games on the national stage is a plus.

Now that the Mets and Marlins suspended game will not be completed, shouldn't it revert to the score from the 8 completed innings and be a Mets victory? It obviously doesn't matter at all in the placement of teams, but I'm bothered by final standings with teams not a whole number of games back.

I think the Reds will be back in the mix very soon. Not so sure about the Cubs.
Not unless Bob Castellini finds a bunch of money for some pitchers. The entire staff had their arms falling off by the end. They do have some position players though, even without Joey Votto. It was great to see him enjoying the kids he was playing with this year however.

The ESPN standings did this, the MLB.com ones have not yet.

Someone mentioned similar to this before, but what if the game was (say) meaningful to Arizona and Chicago but not the Marlins? Would MLB have made the two teams complete the game?

I don't think we know, they were making it up as they went along and hoping the game didn't matter.

Through 19 playoff innings: D-Backs 17, Opponents 5.

They will be 60-37 with Moreno catching assuming they finish this one, that is 100-62 pace. Moreno had 4.3 bWAR in just 380 PAs this year, thankfully the Blue Jays traded him out of the AL East because he is a beast.

He's arguably a top 5 catcher in the league already. I get why the Blue Jays did it, but I think they are going to regret that trade for a really, really long time.

I suppose he brought back the largest return and didn't upset the apple cart of what Toronto already had, but it seemed obvious he was the one of the three catchers they'd have been best advised to keep.

I know they aren't selling jeans but I can't look at Alejandro Kirk and see long term success. His body type is just a disaster.
