Minor league, but... I headed to Akron tonight since it would be my last opportunity to see a minor league game this season. They were playing Bowie (Baltimore affiliate). I'm not sure I've ever felt so old as realizing this is the face of a AA player who's already worth over $8M.

People around us were asking, "Is that really his picture?", and I was like, "Yeah, and he's already one of the best prospects in all of baseball". Holliday went 3-for-4 tonight with a stolen base and is now hitting .338/.421/.507 in his first 36 games at AA.

And you saw his last AA game. He has been sent up to AAA.

In The Quivering Forest
Cole Ragans has gone from a nobody to an ace maybe faster than anyone I have ever seen.

Just absolutely dominating everyone. Love watching him pitch.

I was there the night he started the "Pablo Reyes game". His stuff was electric. Maybe the best game any opponent pitched in Fenway all year.

The Mariners lost to the Mets yesterday, 6-3. Remarkable in that it’s their first loss in 41 games by more than 2 runs.

it's so odd. Is there anything demonstratively different in his approach -- arm slot, stance on the mound/rubber, pitch selection -- that has accounted for this?

83 straight series without getting swept for the O’s. Ties the 22-24 Yankees streak of 100 years ago. Angels, losers of 22 of 30 are up next

Red Sox have been swept 7 times this year.

So what was the worse tank a game job... Kyle Barraclough or David Fry?

Guess it's still Barraclough by default since we're leading.

Shohei Ohtani was a late scratch for the Angels tonight with a strained oblique. I know he’s a FA, and he can DH while waiting to get TJS, but why on earth is he still playing under the circumstances?

I had a bad feeling about Giolito, who – as talented as he is – has really been a career mediocrity because he's so inconsistent... but I still would have never guessed the 3rd string catcher was going to pitch a better game tonight including giving the team more innings. Fry has a 57 mph fastball and 48-50 mph changeup.

His agent came out today and said they are still exploring treatment options but that some kind of procedure is inevitable. He still plans to be a two way player.

Jose Altuve and Mauricio Dubon went back-to-back twice in the same game yesterday.

Throwing this out there since I don't know the answer:
There are currently seven teams with a better record on the road than at home: Orioles, Blue Jays, Nats, Tigers, Astros, Braves, Reds. The Red Sox are even.
This seems like a lot. Anyone know what the record is for teams with a better road record over a 162 (or 154) game season?

Mariners lose again. They may tailspin with their starting pitching beginning to crack a little bit.

The Reds are back in the NL playoff picture with duck tape and voodoo dolls. The entire pitching staff, which sucked to begin with, is either injured or has COVID. David Bell has that kind of Cora circa 2018 kind of luck with in-game decisions off the bench.

Nice timing @Sad Sam Jones !!

I haven't been out to a game here this year because of the reasons I quit working at the stadium last season, but I think I am going to give in and go out to a Travs game on their last homestand this week.
You did not like some of the off the field social stances of the major or minor league teams, correct? It wasn't any on the field stuff? You were an usher if I remember correctly.

Yeah, they treated one of our local pride groups pretty shitty on a day they were supposed to be having a Pride Month ceremony, so I decided I wasn't going to go back. My direct boss was pretty cool about it when I let him know why I was leaving (I finished up the last week of the season), but the way the owner and his kid (who is also the GM) treated me and my wife (who was also ushering) for that last week of the season let me know we made the right decision.

The Marlins have won five in a row and are a half game back of the Reds.

They beat LA last night, but their next 12 games are against Dodgers, Phillies, Brewers, Braves. That’s a brutal stretch.

Cubs have scored 10+ runs in 22 games this year. More than the last 3 years combined.
