I don't think Henry's comments specifically refer to Betts so much as JBJ, Middlebrooks

I don't really think Middlebrooks was rushed as much as they took advantage of a hot streak and got actual value (for the season he was promoted) for someone who isn't a particularly good player, at least as long as he refuses to correct his vision. To the latter point, it's kind of sad that he's been too stubborn to help with his below-average pitch recognition. I'm not sure how more time in the minors would have helped.

As I've said before, Jim Rice could have been a no-doubt early ballot HOFer had he not refused to wear glasses as his vision started to deteriorate by 1980; Dick Allen faced the same problem, and used corrective lenses to continue his career, and ended up putting together a markedly better career than Rice, even though he didn't get the same accolades. Middlebrooks could be a very good major leaguer, but not until his vision issue is addressed. Not many hitters are blessed with the bat speed he has.

I am going to Fort Myers either Mon or Tues (Mar 16/17, Mets / Angels).  Me/Pregnant Wife/2.5 year old

Any advice on tickets?  Get them now, wait until day before so I can keep an eye on weather, where to sit, etc?

Thanks

Is it me, or has this been just about the longest offseason ever?

Thank God for the Patriots.

It's been the longest offseason since the 2012-2013 offseason.

I would very much like it if the 2015-2016 off season were shorter.

It will all be forgotten and meaningless if they don't play well, but from the ST pics / tweets, it seems as if this is a fun group that likes each other.

Give him a follow. If you love the photos
Someone should let him know that Hanley will be playing LF and isn't a RedSox SS.
Great pics though.

Can we please change the banner at the top back to baseball? Thanks.
If you can deflate a baseball to 10.5 PSI we'll accommodate you.

Looks like maybe an SI cover or similar.

It's interesting to have seen comments by Yankees fans recently questioning the team's "no facial hair" policy.

I could see Napoli getting a lighter number of ABs in camp as he still builds up strength after his surgery.

Any news on Moncada actually, you know...signing his contract?  I went through all the RS news outlets I generally utilize and see nothing at all. I was under the impression it was gonna happen this past Friday.

The physical is complete. They're expected to introduce him officially when he returns to Fort Myers sometime this week.  This according to WBZ.

It's time for a 2015 Game Thread Forum.
Wow, that's a lot of televised Spring Training games.

Seeing these pictures... I'm in love with this team already.

Buchholz will probably burn through his 3 timeouts in the first inning.

I know there's another thread about this, but it's ridiculous.  The one nice thing about baseball is there is no time limit.  You don't like it?  Tough.

I'll be interested to see if those become a hitter distraction, like they may relax a little if the clock winds down to 1 or something.

I stopped paying attention to timing stuff.  That's for time between innings, isn't it? Not between pitches? Or are they experimenting with a pitch clock, too?
