lid doesn't matter if you can't even hit the rim on a wide open 3Deathofthebambino said:There is a goddamn lid on the hoop. PC has 10 offensive rebounds to Dayton's 2, and I don't think they've turned a single one of them into points.
He's had a horrible game...needs to get hotNickEsasky said:Henton is killing this team.
One more swing to a wide open Lindsey was the play there. This is such a painful night. Dayton's defense has been fantastic this half.....the whole game really. Our defensive approach was that of a December game against Maine.NickEsasky said:Henton is killing this team.
Doesn't matter they won't score 9 the rest of the way.shawnrbu said:Only chance is Hack a Pollard.
Dumb luck?moondog80 said:Remind me why an 11 seed gets three home games to start the tournament?
Nope this is PC in just about every big game since 1997. Can't handle the spotlight.DennyDoyle'sBoil said:16-53 shooting. What can you say? Teams have nights like that sometimes. You hope it's in December instead of March, but sometimes it happens.
either ole miss or byu had to go from dayton to jacksonville, why wasn't dayton in that game instead of the one where if they won they'd get up to 2 more home games in a rowCellar-Door said:Dumb luck?
Play-in is always in Dayton and for travel reasons that means they advance into the Columbus 2nd round. Dayton just snuck in.
Honestly being close to home probably isn't as big an advantage as having to play an extra game against a pretty good Boise team is a disadvantage.
They had 7 choices. They can put the pod anywhere. Oklahoma, Providence and Albany are the other teams. None was entitled to or received regional preference, so they could have put this pod elsewhere (though that might displace another pod).scottyno said:Did the committee ever explain why they didn't put the Dayton play in somewhere where if they won they wouldn't be playing in Columbus? I mean, they had 3 other choices didn't they?
But they "earned" the extra game disadvantage, in the eyes of the NCAA anyway. They couldn't have moved the play in game to one of the other regions?Cellar-Door said:Dumb luck?

I don't know how anyone can say it just happened though. Dayton's defense was suffocating and contesting everything. They out-toughed us in the paint all night. That didn't just happen.DennyDoyle'sBoil said:16-53 shooting. What can you say? Teams have nights like that sometimes. You hope it's in December instead of March, but sometimes it happens.
No, it's contracted there.moondog80 said:But they "earned" the extra game disadvantage, in the eyes of the NCAA anyway. They couldn't have moved the play in game to one of the other regions?
Dayton's defense was really good and denied entry all night forcing tough shots, no doubt. But until the end PC was defending too. Dayton was still in the 40s very deep into the game. They just needed to make a couple more shots to make it close and keep it in hand, but they just couldn't knock down shots even on good looks. Dayton deserved to win, but Providence made it easier with their shooting.HomeRunBaker said:I don't know how anyone can say it just happened though. What I mean is, once Dayton is in the play in game, take that out of the Coulmbus bracket.Cellar-Door said:No, it's contracted there.
Dayton has a contract with the NCAA to host the First Four and before that the single Play-in game. They've had it since 2001.
Edit- amusingly this is the last year on the deal because the NCAA wants to cycle it. (ie they want more $$$ by having it bid for year by year)
There was no Columbus bracket before selection Sunday. Any of the 16 pods can be put anywhere. They were free to put the play in winner's pod anywhere.moondog80 said:What I mean is, once Dayton is in the play in game, take that out of the Coulmbus bracket.
Right, that's what I'm trying to say. I saw this coming a mile away, the NCAA couldn't?DennyDoyle'sBoil said:There was no Columbus bracket before selection Sunday. Any of the 16 pods can be put anywhere. They were free to put the play in winner's pod anywhere.
Oh, gotcha. Committe doesn't care, I guess, because six seeds get no protection -- and to admit it's a problem causes people to start asking why Duke and North Carolina get to play in NC so often. They just won't intentionally protect a 6 seed.moondog80 said:Right, that's what I'm trying to say. I saw this coming a mile away, the NCAA couldn't?
