So brutal. You have to extend the game in case of a miss, especially when you can't get the last shot to win when down 3.

Or in case you decide to TAKE ZERO SHOTS.

Coaching has been at an all time low this tourney. Valpo had no reason not to try for 2 and play the free throw game. Just inexcusable. Seems like winning and losing teams are all making horrible decisions.

Edit: or what drewdawg and shawnrbu are saying

The end of game execution is absolutely brutal from a lot of these teams.  Don't even get off a shot with 30 seconds to play with.
That's what happens when you have long athletic defenders and they know you are looking to get off a three. Excellent coaching by the Maryland staff in preparation for these end of game sequences.

Not only is Duke getting the rolls on their shots, RMU seems to have one of those smaller rims you see at the carnivals.

It doesn't really matter much since RMU has no answer for Okafor (not that many teams do).

So while Robert Morris is getting their asses kicked all over the place in Charlotte, their hockey team was in the semifinals of the Atlantic Hockey Conference tournament at the same time.

Emphasis on "was" as they give up the tying goal with 35 seconds to play in regulation, and then lose to Mercyhurst just over 3 minutes into the extra frame. As only the conference winner will advance to the NCAA's, RMU's hockey season is over.

Sucks to be a Colonial right now.

And the women's hoops team last week fought their way into the NEC finals as the #3 seed and faced the #5 seed St. Francis - Brooklyn (coincidentally the same school they beat in the NEC final for the men to get their bid) who had a losing record going into the game and lost by 15 at home.

Just get rid of the 16 vs 1 games and give the 1 seeds a Thursday/Friday bye. These games are pointless and non competitive.

Wasn't there a legit push for something like this in the late 80s, and it was silenced by the Princeton-Georgetown near upset?

Anyhow, I imagine simply reaching the tourney is such a big deal for a lot of 16 seeds that getting their asses inevitably kicked is worth it to them. And even though they're not common, the occasional close 16-1 game is always exciting. I dunno, it would take some of the color out of the tourney to kick out a bunch of the small schools and give the biggest ones a pass out of the first round. It wouldn't be a dealbreaker by any means, I'm not gonna be all hyperbolic, but one of the things I enjoy is keeping an eye on the 16-1 games to see if this is the year an upset happens.

Not a single upset by seed today so far. Will anything wacky happen tonight? Dayton over Providence wouldn't really count

The needs of the "haves" to just shuffle on into the next round -- and of the poor, whiny fans who have to sit through AT MOST four 16 vs 1 mismatches every year -- do not supersede the needs of these smaller schools to gain valuable exposure and recruiting points.

These games aren't going anywhere, nor should they.

Albany's hanging with Oklahoma, and how awesome would it be for yet another 3-seed from the Big 12 to be sent packing?

Davidson is 6-for-23 on threes against Iowa. There's your epitaph for the Wildcats, folks.

I think the Rob Lowe commercials have run their course. Maybe end on a high with Shoulda Worn a Rubber Rob Lowe and call it a day.

I say this every year but I HATE tomorrow's schedule. Game at 12:10, game at 2:40 (so there will likely be a gap between games) then 6 games between 5:15 and 9:40. Why not play a couple more games earlier in the day?

True that.  There will be thousands of Flyers fans there.  They were buying tickets off of the PC website, Oklahoma's, Stub Hub, Ticketmaster--anywhere they could find 'em,  The UD ticket office released a couple hundred extra this morning.  Should be a noisy mutha...if it ever starts!

Yeah, I think that's new. They have been doing one exclusive network game to start the first Saturday and Sunday for several years, but I don't remember two unopposed games to start the day. I think it must be advertiser driven. They know when they have two games at once they get fewer eyeballs on commercials.

That said, they have done a much better job this year on staggering games to avoid having multiple games end at the same time. In years past, they would start three or four games within a few minutes of each other and you'd have triple split screen endings. Tomorrow the six games all have a decent stagger in start time.

The Great Danes had a chance to get within 3 of the Sooners, but they just gave it up on a steal and committed a foul at the other end on a breakaway. OK back up 7.

And now Hooley misses. Jesus. Come on, Albany. They're just throwing up threes now.

Albany has had a ton of chances to keep this close, and they've missed a shit ton of open looks and/or taken horrible shots.

You're not kidding!! You'd think that Oklahoma would have learned not to take this 1st round game lightly and/or allow an inferior team to hang around after losing to North Dakota Frickin State in the 1st round last year!

Hahahahahaha.  And now Dunn gets a second foul less than 3 minutes in.  Fucking game just completely changed.

Dunn has to be smarter than this. No the first wasn't a flagrant but he knows another foul and he's sitting for half the game.....so two possessions later he reaches in and commits a stupid foul.

Five turnovers in their last 6 possessions since Dunn went out.  This is fucking painful to watch.

Dayton only has what, 6-7 players.  It's a damn good thing that they apparently never commit a foul.

Haha.  Don't even try to get a charging call.  It's never going to happen.  That was perfectly done.  Blocking.

Finally saw a replay on the flagrant. It's the right call by the rule, intent isn't much of a factor in the college flagrant 1.It just has to be unnecessary, and clearing out with the elbows up has seemed to be something the NCAA wants to  eliminate.

He is so damn awful. Cooley better get a PG transfer in here quick.....I couldn't watch him for more than token minutes.

Couldn't disagree more. Dunn didn't clear out at all. It was a basketball play where the defender stuck his head where the elbow would naturally be on the play and not the elbow going outside of the norm to clear out.

So PC fans, is Dunn always this stupid? He just reached like crazy on that inbounds. tipped it out, but that was a zero upside play, he can't make a steal there, and if he makes a bit more contact he could get called.

I honestly don't know how much more of this I can watch.  This is some of the worst basketball I've seen this year.

This St Johns and San Diego St game has been a ton of fun. Not the prettiest basketball I've ever seen, but fast paced with tons of action.

Bullshit call on Dunn, Henton shooting bricks, and giving away the ball like its on fire. Great start for PC
