Depending on whether you prefer fWAR or bWAR, Carlos Correa is somewhere between the 9th to 12th best player on the Twins roster.

Os walk-off the Yanks on a Santander HR in the 9th, wasting a great outing by Cole. Yanks offense continues to be anemic, watching Stanton flail away tonight was comical (not as comical as watching Volpe “hit” but still . . . ). i can only imagine how sizzling Boone’s seat is by now (of course he hasn’t been canned yet so who knows)

Right Here
Gonna go Gary Brown with...

Don't look now, but the Cubs have won seven in a row and played themselves back into the NL wild-card chase.

One of the most painful things in MLB is when a team right on the cusp of playoff contention coming into the deadline, decides to go for it, and then that is quickly followed by a losing streak to drop them out of serious contention.

In possibly related news, second loss in a row for LAA to one of the teams they are chasing in TOR, this will leave them 5 back in the loss column of the 3rd WC iwith 57 to go.

You say painful, I say hilarious. looking forward to the meltdown from that fanbase when Ohtani leaves to join a real team.

I was being nice, pretty sure that’s the hardest I’ve rooted for the Blue Jays in a game for a while, once Manoah was out anyway. They so so so don’t deserve him.

I dunno, folks, I think I’d rather see Ohtani and Trout (even in diminished form) in the playoffs than any of the current three WC teams, I’d rather root for them to make it than take delight in them not selling off the best player in baseball for three soon-to-bust prospects.

Would it be imperative that they trade him for three soon-to-bust prospects? That's one hell of an assumption.

Are those the Padres Cityconnect uniforms? That has to be the worst uniform in the major leagues. Perhaps all of major sports.

Rays take 2 of 3 in HOU. B Lowe back and hitting. Maybe some light at the end of the awful
July tunnel? Rays stunk in July but were also very unlucky. BAL continues to lead a charmed existence but only up 1 game as of now. Would be nice if Rays could add some pitching at the deadline.

This is going to be an adventure – and probably not the fun kind. Cleveland keeps Houston off the scoreboard with some good D in the 1st inning, but the Astros have already stolen two bases off Syndergaard.

Aaron Judge does not look good running the bases.
His sprint times are way down so far, but some of it is I think him trying to be careful. Once NY falls out of it completely (late August? early September?), they will presumably shut him down and he'll get the surgery he very likely needs.

Bichette injured
Rays not playing that well
I’m not sold on my own team
3 WC teams

Yankees falling out of it completely in late August is hard to imagine

Let's revisit this after they finish 7 games in 7 nights against TB and HOU this week, I will be stunned if they aren't at least 5 or 6 back in the loss column (3 at this moment) after that with 50 games left. Their entire lineup is comatose virtually every night, no one ever needs to throw Judge a strike.

Syndergaard settled in but took one off his ankle. He wasn't going to do more than finish the inning anyway, so they took him out and put Eli Morgan in cold. He promptly turned the 2-run lead into a 2-run deficit.

Espinal, who came in to replace Bichette, strikes out with two on and two out in the bottom of the 9th. O’s win.

The Hayes catch was great. One of those big plays that happens when you’re having a season like theirs.

This also goes into the TINSTAPP narrative.

Lucas Gioliti was far and away the # 1 prospect in all of baseball with the Nationals. He was traded in a package for Adam Eaton (who promptly got injured) and has since been sort of good but not spectacular.
