#DFG: Canceling the Noise

Is there any level of suspension that you would advise Tom to accept?

I believe that is correct. Yet, Wells issued a 144-page report, which is just a Google search away:

We're going to see what Ted Wells writes on this; I can virtually guarantee it.

Doubts expressed here about that reflect some of our butt hurt paranoia.
Not sure who you were responding to, but I was not suggesting that the Wells report would be withheld from the public. (Goodell has specificlly stated that it will be shared with the public.) I was suggesting that the report may be released before the league decides what to do.

Not aimed at you. There were suggestions earlier on in this thread that the NFL office might try to claim privilege on the report, and perhaps even keep it from Kraft.

It was announced today that the Pats' visit to the White House is next Thursday.  I cannot imagine the NFL will release the Wells report before then unless it completely exonerates the Pats.  The draft is the following Thursday, so they're running out of time to take 2015 picks away if that's the plan.

It was never the plan, which is why Atlanta lost a 2016 pick.

Yes, and that goes for the Colts as well. Too late to grab them in this draft

It's almost more critical that they take the 2016 picks now. What if the Pats (or Colts, dreams do come true) trade 2016 picks to move up? Obviously it's not something the Pats do often, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

It would be pretty awesome if BB traded the entire 2016 draft before Goodell could take a pick.

You realize he'd just take one from 2017, right?

I doubt it. I would think that since the White House visit is planned for next week, the NFL nor the administration would want to have a repeat of the media circus from after the AFC championship game...

It certainly suggests that someone (could be Wells, could be someone else) has told the league they need to get an actual experienced investigator involved, not the utter clowns who bungled the Rice and Ballghazi situations.   Which is a positive sign for the NFL

From my reading of that job description, this position seems like it is for investigations of off-field Roethlisberger-style stuff, and not "game operations" or on-field misbehavior. Anyone else read it that way?

I'm just thinking that this is part of the department Goodell announced prior to the Super Bowl.

I mean, if the NFL REALLY wanted to settle this accurately, they'd wait until next season and just measure before and at halftime during a few weeks. Add that data set to the report, then we can have fun calling any team that plays in cold weather cheaters.

Agreed. Florio is all upset because he thinks this must -- MUST -- be resolved before the draft. But we have the schedule release, Pats visit to WH, and the run up to the draft. Doubt they will be stepping on that news.

Well, it specifically says "game operations" in the description.

As in your willingness to give your left one if Goodell takes the Colts' first rounder?

Hmm, missed that game operations part.

On the Dan Patrick show they're thumbing through a book about this "scandal" that was was just released by someone. Apparently it focuses on all the things said by talking heads and reporters that turned out to be incorrect.

You can read the preview.  As the 1 star reviewer pointed out, he actually got the facts on Spygate wrong.

"The Patriots were found to have videotaped the coaching signals of opposing teams, as well as opposing teams practice sessions."

That's some incredible irony considering the topic he is cover.

Thanks, based on the Amazon description Lee Barret really needs a proofreader.
Hell, Marty Barrett is saying he needs to proofread his own name.

Is it 10 volumes long?
