Not even a rebounder or a PJ Tucker type defensive bench wing? Christ.
PHX wanted a 1st for Tucker, which is a dumb deal for BOS. If nothing came out of here I'd expect them to make a push for Bogut once he gets bought out. Really outside a star deal buyouts probably more likely than trades to start with.

Whatever. We'll see where this pick lands. Have a feeling this summer is going to be very interesting with all of this being revisited along with a player or two that becomes available that no one saw coming.

That's what she said.
Two years ago right about this time was pretty fantastic. Good job on that move Danny. Now get on the plane and tell everyone you only offered draft picks for PG.

I'm okay with this. George would've been a big piece of the puzzle, but the C's really would've needed a few other things to fall just right, like a seamless integration of George before the playoffs, Olynyk continuing to offer quality minutes off the bench, and Golden State releasing Curry and Durant sometime before the Finals.

My post is more satire than sarcasm. Those are all things I have read from more than one person on this board in the past couple of weeks. I don't mean to merely denigrate those who hold those opinions, but I feel like there is a serious disconnect between some folks and how well this team has played. Now, I would surmise that most of that has to do with the divide over whether it's worth being anything but a "legit" title contender, and if you aren't that, you're better off being a .300 team than a .600 team, but I think it still bears occasional reminders that the Celtics are a very good team right now, even if they aren't likely to beat the Warriors, Spurs, or Cavs. And, you don't get to be a very good team without some very good players.

I will admit to being disappointed that the JaMychal Green rumors came to naught. He was just what the doctor would have ordered for this squad given that there was going to be no shakeup on the wings.

Jamychal Green is going to get paid this offseason.

I'm good with standing pat, but I would rather have traded the Boston 2018 first rounder and gotten something for it to gear up for the playoffs.

Really wanted someone today. Anyone. Taj Gibson woulda been nice for rebounding
He got traded with Doug McBuckets and a 2nd for Cam Payne and garbage.
So we really could only have done it with Marcus since we don't have any other PGs who can't shoot on the roster to offer CHI.

Didn't really want Butler, and while I like George, his "I luv the Lakers" stuff makes him a no for me, too. The long game continues.

remember when there were 20 trades before the deadline and none of them made a hint of difference on the results of the 2017 season?

except toronto is favored now to to in the ECF instead of Boston

Ok, but maybe we could have beaten that shitty offer the Raptors made for Tucker. Would have been fine letting Rozier go.

I don't think a Tucker move would make much sense without a bigger move clearing out the wing rotation. I mean, he's not getting many minutes for this team as constructed, 2 2nds..... sure, but I don't think I'd move any of the guys it would take to match salary for him that aren't pure salary dumps.

We're assuming they want Rozier over Sullinger. Remember, some owners are stupid and think things like Buddy Hield is the next Steph Curry.

Maybe not a big deal, really. It's not like Tucker puts them over the Golden State hump.

Yep, that's a miss. Rozier especially seems pretty replaceable for BOS since they are keeping this pick.
That's weird to me. You need depth and assets to chase stars, PJ Tucker would be the 4th or 5th guy in a wing rotation. He'd barely get any minutes in the playoffs then he's gone.

Rozier? Woulda used him for Gibson or PJ tucker. Raps just moved back ahead.

I think they'll only regret not getting a Tucker if Brown or Crowder miss significant time going forward. Otherwise, I don't see them wanting to cut back Brown's expanding minutes and role.

The idea that there was nothing for a couple of 2nd round picks that could have helped the Celtics is baffling.

When the Celtics are being out rebounded to lose a series to Toronto I'm going to die.

Rozier can shoot. Also salary cap implications make a Rozier trade for Gibson difficult.
PJ Tucker would play maybe 5 minute a game over 40-45 games MAX for the Celtics and have almost no impact, why are you trading away a cheap young PG with potential for that? He adds nothing.

Most of us only claimed one of those things... Not the composite you built.

I think we all know the difference between 0.300 and 0.600. For me personally I'm reminding myself of the difference between 0.600 and whatever CLE and GSW are capable of.

Thanks. I was almost slow enough on the uptake to start ripping that opinion to shreds.

Where is it though? Has to be a player who would actually get minutes for us (so basically has to be a big) and there has to be a salary match, AND they have to be expiring.... not a lot of guys fit that bill. Bogut was one, but he got moved in a bigger deal. I'm a bit surprised they weren't able to work out a Zeller/Min 2nd for Bogut deal, but... meh they'll probably take their shots in the buyout market instead.
