I didn't get to watch this round, but have followed on the play by play.

Just amazing round and some stats below. (this was being written as he was playing 18 and would have looked a bit better if he didn't just bogey this last one)

He only had one "tough" putt to save par.
On 13 pars - he had one putt of 11' 7" and the average on the other 12 putts for par were 17"

He made only one "long" putt for birdie - 11' 9" - his other 3 birdies averaged 5' 6"

He only had one bogey and it was his only miss from inside 12' all day missing on a 6' putt on the 18th.

Just from stats perspective he was very tight on approaches, and he never put himself in jeopardy of 3 putting.

By the looks of it, that round could have been a lot better too. Tiger leading a tournament without his best stuff, all is right with the world.

I'm convinced this guy could win a tournament left handed. Nobody works their way around a course like Tiger.

I think Casey and Sneds finished before him, so he won’t be in the last group unless they go off in threesomes. Sergio is just getting started, lurking around at -2. Boy would that be fun if they were paired together sometime this weekend.

That would be a great preview of the Butler Cabin ceremony this year when Sergio has to put the green jacket on Tiger.

I could watch the PGA Tour live feed permanently. It's so much more enjoyable than the live coverage. I love the little bits they do when they have some dead air space, the one they just did with Kuchar was hilarious.

The coverage is perfectly simplistic. I love that you can hear the golfers and watch different kinds of shots, good and bad. Normal coverage is a lot of putting, jumping from guy to guy and the occasional drive.

I wish they would have a camera crew with every group and you could pipe into whichever feed you wanted, that would be amazing (yet impractical).

Is the pga tour live feed free? I was going to sign up today but it said “create an account for your free 10 minute preview”. I didn’t go through with it because I’m not willing to pay for access and a 10 minute preview wouldn’t even give me 1 hole of coverage.

It’s like $5 a month and there’s probably a cheaper season subscription.

I think it is awesome for most of the reason’s FL4WL3SS states. It’s great to get the early coverage of tournaments on Thursday/Friday. They usually pick the stars for the featured groups, but they’ll typically mix in a few lesser known players as well. One of the groups this week was Hadwin, Finau and Schwartzel.

Is Tiger the biggest golf comeback story since Ben Hogan after the car wreck?
He's not back yet. But if he achieves anything close to his former greatness, it'll be historic. The best thing Tiger did was come out this year with guns not blazing. He just said, "I'm trying to stay healthy and play some golf, I might never win again. And I'll be ok."

He needed to reach that point, bottom out and then build from there without the pressure of trying to win everything. It's been enjoyable to watch so far.

Agree with all of your points. I had given him up for dead, was trying to focus on the young guys but with Phil winning last week, and Tiger contending, the Tour is so much more fun.

Looks like Tiger will be in the 2nd to last group tomorrow with Sneds unless Connors drops a shot in his last 3 holes.

Here's another amazing Tiger stat I just saw, for the youngsters who maybe don't appreciate how good he was/is: Spieth missed the cut this week, and has now missed more cuts in his 5 year career than Tiger has in his 20 something year career.

Tiger’s win rate is still something like 25% for his career (and was a bit better before the sputtering this decade).

Amazing approach from Tiger on 3. He's even after 2, after kind of wasting hole 1, which he definitely should have birdied, except for the fact that his drive was atrocious.

Man, look at these galleries for Tiger. He just changes the dynamic of the game like nobody else in sports. I'm so fucking happy right now. With the Friars playing in the Big East Championship later on, this is day long sports orgasm for me.

+1

Masters weekend with Tiger, phil, and all the stars of today has a chance to be the sports event of the summer

This is vintage Tiger, incredible. I can't believe what I'm watching given where he was just a few weeks ago. You can tell he's feeling it and the greens are receptive so he's gonna have a good back 9 if he keeps the ball in play.

Good luck Corey if you're paired with Tiger tomorrow, you'll have no chance. Tiger will freeze him out and the gallery will be in the bag for Tiger. I think it's his tournament to lose at this point.

Man, Tiger could have grabbed this thing by the throat on the last two holes. Missed a total of about 15 feet of putts for 2 birdies. But, stress free pars. That's what I always remember about Tiger when he was at his peak. Bogey was never in play. The only question was whether or not he'd make birdie (or eagle), while the rest of the field had to make tough pars, etc. to try to keep pace.

Very tough par coming up here for Tiger. Kind of lost that tee shot there.

Well bogey is in play here
