DukeSox, how do they dole out tickets for the student section when the kids are on break? Lots of non-students in Section 17 today.

PS nice to see that Sulaimon and Dawkins can both have a role on this team
A role? 3&4 behind Parker/Hood and key to any serious NCAA run again (elite 8 last year)

DS, going to see Grayson Allen play in a holiday tournament over the next few days.  My son went last night, but they played an easy opening round game, so I stayed home.  He had 18 in 9 minutes before they shut down the starters.

For a while I doubted they could co-exist, or both have a big game in the same game

Just saw Grayson Allen play. The fact that he's the 4th best incoming frosh next year is sick. Kid could help Duke right now. He's legit.

His dunk contest dunk is on the SC top 10 right now if you happen to catch it.

How do you lose a game you out-rebound the other team 52-29 and 21-5 on the offensive glass?  The way this team loses games is mind-altering.

There's no doubt in my mind they will beat Syracuse next weekend, but I'm also positive it'll be after they lose to Miami on Wednesday.

I think they'll land around a 3-4. Key players have still only been playing together for a dozen games or so; they'll get better through the ACC.

Defense is not progressing that well, however, and yet again lack of a big man hurts.

You know how when UNC loses, Ol' Roy typically throws his team under the bus?

Here is K last night:

"We haven’t been at our best since the start of conference, and I haven’t been at my best since Christmas. That’s my responsibility. We were there tonight, and we were collectively together tonight for the first time in a couple of weeks. It was my responsibility that we weren’t as much as we should have. But today we were...I’ve had to get more observant with my team. I take responsibility, full responsibility, for those first three games.

"Everything is on me. Part of it is not seeing some things. And one of the things is, at times, we would get tired because we’re not as big as some teams. So getting more guys in would help."

"We’ve been playing hard. I got knocked back right after Christmas. And I’ve been knocked back for a couple of weeks. It’s on me, not on my team. So what we have been doing, to me, doesn’t make a damn bit of difference. It’s on me. What we will be doing, that will be on all of us. Today is on all of us. Win or lose. We’re all in today. That’s the way it is.

“"Look, we’re human beings. And human beings have setbacks. Also, you don’t get a lifetime membership in the NCAA tournament, just because we’ve been in there and we’ve won it four times. And we’ve been to 11 Final Fours. You have to pay your dues every year. That’s the way it is. It’s a good club. It’s a good club, and it’s tough to get in.

"We’re starting to pay our dues better. The head coach is going to do a better job. We did a better job tonight. I can do better. I can do better for my team."

Guy's 66 years old and is apologizing for not giving effort the past few weeks to a bunch of 19 year olds.  Oh, his brother (and last remaining family member) died a few weeks ago, and he's not making any excuses.

Leadership.

So you're saying he's grown since the incident where he called a student reporter to his office and screamed profanities at him for a half hour while instructing the team to encircle/intimidate the kid?

I really think it's ridiculous how much Roy gets dumped on, and that's including by me sometimes.  I guess the argument is "anybody could win with his teams," but I only need to go back to Matt Doherty to show you not everybody could win with his teams.  Carolina was an atrocious nightmare of a basketball team before he got to Chapel Hill, and within two years he'd won a National Championship, and won another one for good measure.  Everybody seems to love guys like Boeheim and Izzo but they have less championships than Roy does.

If he's failed in any area this season it's that his team simply lacks guys who can put the ball in the basket, and that's a recruiting failure, but he was also caught off-guard by Marshall (2 years ago) and Bullock (last year) leaving, as any coach I think would be, and then PJ goes full brain-dead and gets kicked off the team, again something out of his hands.

Roy Williams can't go out and make baskets for them and he sure as heck can't get them to make free throws - that's on the guys on the court.

Hairston has 22 (4-9 threes) and 6 steals in his NBDL debut. What could have been if he wasn't so stupid.

With former President George H.W. Bush in attendance in Duke's famed home arena, Duke shot 50 percent and went 11 for 24 from 3-point range to earn its most lopsided win against its Triangle rival in a dozen years.

"Actually everything today was really good," Krzyzewski said. "Our team was outstanding."

Fifteen of those turnovers came by halftime, with Duke taking a 23-2 edge in points off turnovers to build a 45-32 lead. Things only got worse from there for NC State, which hasn't beaten Krzyzewski at Cameron -- the 1995 win came while Krzyzewski was on medical leave -- since February 1988.

It was Krzyzewski's 200th career ACC win at Cameron and his 898th overall at Duke, putting the NCAA men's career coaching wins leader two shy of joining Syracuse's Jim Boeheim with at least 900 wins at one school.

Bush sat in the second row of seats along the baseline nearest the Duke bench. The Bush-founded CEO Roundtable on Cancer saying Bush was on hand to recognize Krzyzewski for his "personal commitment and leadership" in work to fight cancer.

Bush met with Krzyzewski and his team in the locker room afterward.

"I didn't know Coach K and him were great friends," point guard Quinn Cook said. "They talked about their relationship and stuff. You don't sign up for stuff like this. You meet the president, it's just a blessing, man."

Pitt's stadium design is so poor - the cameras are up above the student section side, such that they stare right at a bunch of old people sitting down next to the court, and then some weird windows/inside box seats that are behind sliding glass doors?  Just odd, and atmosphere appears dead even though it's not at all.
