Maybe you think Austin Rivers "hardly" ever hits game winning 3 point shots in chapel hill.

Duke also hardly ever bothers to drive eight miles for a basketball game.

Figured this was as  good a time as any to solicit thoughts on Virginia as they've finally breached the top 25 again.  After a so-so non coference performance, they've quietly had arguably the most impressive in-conference run thus far of any ACC team.  8-1 with the one being a loss at Cameron when they came back from an 11 point deficit to take the lead only to lose on a more ridiculous three than the one that sent the Duke-Cuse game to OT.  They have a 16 point margin of victory over conference foes, and they're top five defensive team nationally.  There was a lot of sleeper buzz that went away after a few bad losses earlier in the year, but I'm wondering if you guys feel this recent stretch has elevated UVA to contender status for the ACC title.

UVA is now first in the league with Syracuse's loss.  They get Syracuse at home on 3/1.  They play two bad teams at home (ND and Miami) before that and are at Maryland after the Syracuse game.  Could definitely win the regular season title.

Were Hurley and Laettner not available to do this broadcast?  ESPN needs to hire more Duke alums for these games...

All the games these two teams have played in a short time are really catching up to them. No legs left.

The Carolina broadcasters tend to have a tough time using full sentences.
Or they don't need to broadcast because they had successful NBA careers.

Feeling a lot like another game lost at the foul line
Who knew after that start that it'd actually be won at the foul line after that start.

Maybe the best game Roy Williams has ever coached, switching from man to the point/1-3-1 zone at different times seemed to really throw Duke off.

I didn't like it either obviously, but it's far from the first time it's happened.

The crowd was awesome tonight though - up, behind, they were loud and into the game.  I wish we could do 80% of that for all the other games.

Didn't watch the 2nd half.  I figured the teams would split the regular season series, and it looks like it's lining up that way.  UNC gets up for big games (see the wins earlier this season) and has finally been playing closer to where the talent level is (still far below where they should be, but getting there).

Bet no one saw the Syracuse - Duke rematch with both teams coming off losses, haha.  Ah well, I'll be there, both teams should be fired up and not want to have 2 straight losses near the end of the year.

UNC fans storming the court??? Come on you're better than that. You should expect to beat Duke on your home floor.
This is bullshit. UNC has had some highs this year, but they're unranked and not where they want to be. Duke is one of the best teams in the country. As an elite program, you don't get many chances to storm the court after a big win over your top rival, especially when you're an unranked dog. Celebrating this kind of win is what college and college sports is all about and I'm glad the UNC fans got to storm the court. The Dean Dome was rocking last night and the students deserved to do it.

You can say they should act like they've been there before, but that's a load of crap. Kids should act like kids and celebrate like kids. Not violently, but joyously. From what I saw, that's what they did. Let them enjoy their moment, that win, this team. I swear, there are too many people looking to be the fun police or to get outraged nowadays.

I agree. For the vast vast majority of those UNC kids, last night might just be the best moment of the rest of their lives. Let them celebrate!!

I can't for the life of me figure out why you're on this board. You're just a trolling piece of shit.

Surprised you didn't watch the second half. I thought you were a Duke fan.

I was at a work event, taped it and tried radio silence but the event was in Charlotte and it just wasn't possible. So I watched it when I got back and again today. We did not play close to our best offensively, which gives me a lot of excitement. A lot of that is Duke being a good defensive team. But still, we are capable of really high highs this year.

Nor has Duke?

I was at the game you're referring to. It was players/managers/team assistants/cheerleaders/security that were on the court after the shot. Watch the replay, plenty on YouTube.

They've beaten Michigan State, Louisville, and Kentucky this season so they're not that much of an underdog.

Court storming is so overdone at this point. It's also extremely dangerous and puts the teams at risk. What if a UNC fan ran up to Coach K or a player and punched them in the face?

Cheer on your team from the stands. Just like players shouldn't go into the stands, fans should stay off the court

How do you know? You don't watch the second half of Carolina Duke games when your team is ranked fifth and has a generational freshman. I really am not sure if I can trust your authority on this. If a Duke fan comes into the thread and confirms, then I would buy it.

This is about as believable as a Dook defensive flop. If you'd said, "I hate losing to Carolina, we were up, and I figured I'd either smile later or miss being pissed off," it would at least be plausible.

Are you suggesting this would be a bad thing?

I'm not going to watch the second half.  I just have this feeling that Duke doesn't gets up for big games (home, road, meaningless, ranked, unranked, scrimmages, practices, games of HORSE, best of 10 FT's, Lacrosse rape scandals, coach cheating on cancer stricken wife, etc.) and Syracuse will just stomp them in the second  half.

I'm too much of a chicken shit to see my team lose.

Poor little boy. It's ok, some day you won't be so insecure that you can't admit you watched your team lose a rivalry game.
