outside of winning a national title and winning at Cameron there's nothing better than shutting up the mongoloids in the Maryland student section.

What about the inbreds in the ncstate student section? Maryland is still behind them.

Maryland has been consistently worse longer than NC State.  Plus outside of this year UNC never loses in Raleigh so it's like another home game.

I must say there's been a lot of whining in this thread by you UNC fans for a team that's going to win 22-23 games in the regular season and whose losses have come against Butler, Indiana, UVA, Miami, NC State, Duke, all solid to really good teams. The only "bad" loss I see is to a horrible Texas squad but that was when they had Kabongo. Basically, what I'm saying is that I hate you all.
Eh, they looked like a pretty big pile of crap earlier this year when they were piling up those losses, and before we knew how good all those teams would be (Butler, UVA, Miami, etc.).  Some of that negativity, and the team's propensity to have a bad game and still eek out a win vs. bad ACC teams, lends itself to a lack of confidence in this UNC team.

At the end of the day, they've managed to improve throughout the year (because they're young) and have ended up piling up some wins.

I know one thing: if UNC ends up as a 7 or 8 seed, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be their 1/2 seed. I'm thinking they've played themselves up to a 6 seed though, pending the ACC Tourney.

I think a lot of it was caused b/c Roy was slow to get his 5 best players in the starting lineup, which all of us were harping on him to do.  Now, to Roy's credit he figured it out in time to get on a good run before the end of the season, like when he put Kendall in ahead of Larry Drew, so maybe that's all that matters.  It was pretty aggravating to watch, though.

Hairston and McAdoo crumpled to the court within about two minutes of one another, calling to mind Kendall Marshall (minus the title hopes).

Hairston looked like a pretty serious groin injury, it's possible he could feel worse today then he did at the time, but he showed no ill will. McAdoo went down in a heap and looked like his knee buckled, but it was really his back. Just weird. They were both down long enough to conjure up some pretty miserable thoughts.

First: you have the finest screen name in the history of this site.

As to the injuries, MCAdoo has dealt with his back all year and it looked like, for lack of a better word, it "locked up" on him. Apparently that has happened multiple times in practice and he has missed a bit of practice because of it. He's frustrating because he takes so many plays off; I'm starting to think his back may be a bigger issue in the sense that he's been playing with it as a constant mental drag.

P.J. Hairston has huge, gigantic balls. They may be sore but I don't think it will affect his game.

Duke led all schools with four selections, while Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech had two each. Boston College, Clemson, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina and Wake Forest were each represented by one player.

The Duke foursome is joined on the team by Raphael Akpejiori (Miami), Christian Beyer (Virginia Tech), Chris Bolden (Georgia Tech), Tyler Cavanaugh (Wake Forest), Jarell Eddie (Virginia Tech), Marcus Georges-Hunt (Georgia Tech), Logan Aronhalt (Maryland), Marcus Paige (North Carolina), Joe Rahon (Boston College) and Jordan Roper (Clemson).

Roy is concerned about McAdoo's availability for tomorrow.  He did "nothing" at practice yesterday.

congrats to Duke, just a miserable exhibition by UNC the first 4 minutes of the game and they never recovered from it because they shot the ball even more miserably.  1 three pointer from this group isn't going to ever cut it.

So ... No way Sauliamon wins the ACC ROY, right? He had a nice game head to head against Hanlan but hasn't cracked double digits since. I know the NC sports writers are a tough bunch but even they can't deny that Hanlan should get the award.

Yes ... I know it's an individual award but combined with BCs solid finish this would be a nice accomplishment for the program. Just looking to get the Duke faithful's opinion.

That would be even worse. Hanlan is averaging just about the same number of rebounds from be guard position, 3 more points per game, not to mention almost 3 assists and more than 1 steal a game. Again, NC bias may prevail but it shouldn't even be a contest.

Oh and Duke is tremendously different team with Kelly (captain obvious). They move from being a potential early exit to a favorite.

Not sure if this is right spot for this but figured somebody here would know the answer.
I want to bring my 2 sons to a UNC game in Chapel Hill next year. How difficult is it to get tickets? I don't mind going through StubHub or some ticket agency if necessary but I assume there is just not much inventory for most games. Are there generally scalpers on site? I'm guessing that UNC/Duke is impossible but am hoping to see another somewhat strong opponent. Thanks

It's a big venue, you won't have any trouble except against Duke or other ACC teams that are good that year.

What's the projected starting lineup for the Dukies next year? Does the third Plumlee finally get some run?

Starters (assuming a small lineup):
PG - Quinn Cook
SG - Andre Dawkins
Wing - Rasheed Sulaimon
S/PF- Jabari Parker (#2 rated recruit in the country)
PF/C - Josh Hairston / Marshall Plumlee

Bench Guards:
Tyler Thornton
Matt Jones (#32 recruit)

Bench Frontcourt:
Rodney Hood (transfer from Mississippi State)
Amile Jefferson
Hairston / Plumlee
Alex Murphy
Semi Ojeleye (#36 recruit)

They're gonna be young, and they don't have anyone who stands out as a "star" for next year, but they're gonna be really deep. The type of team that may lose 8 or 9 games and only be a 3 or 4 seed but could be really dangerous come March.

You can feel good, good, good about Hood.

Yeah - Jefferson can / should be a starter next year too. They're gonna be SO deep - if K is willing to play 9-10 guys

PJ Hairston is definitely coming back, no announcement yet on McAdoo or Bullock but all indications are they will follow suit.

sounds like Reggie is leaving now. I believe he's a new father, so he might feel that he has to go, even if he's a low first/high second pick.

And Roy has an in-person with #1 overall recruit Andrew Wiggins next Monday.

so that has us with

PG-Paige/Britt/Davis
SG/SF-Hairston/McDonald/Tokoto
PF-McAdoo/Johnson/Hicks/Simmons
C-Hubert/James/Meeks

certainly a team capable of doing a lot of damage given the returnees and the incoming guys, but boy Andrew Wiggins would slot in perfectly at the 3 spot.

According to Jon Rothstein's tweets, Duke's nonconference schedule includes a possible game with UCLA at MSG, Arizona in the Preseason NIT, Kansas in Chicago, and Michigan in the Big 10/ACC Challenge.  They also host Vermont the weekend before Thanksgiving according to a friend of mine whose son is a walk-on for UVM.

PJ was arrested on marijuana possession overnight, so I assume he's going to be suspended for a while.

Per Greg Barnes at Inside Carolina, he (PJ) met with Roy Williams this morning and he will be disciplined internally and not suspended for any practices or games.

In other words, he is better at basketball than Will Graves.

Given the problems across all these different sports recently, seems like a lack of institutional control over at the chapel hill branch of the UNC system

Bullock appears to have made a good more in declaring. Workouts bumped him up into the first round giving him a couple years of guaranteed money while having "1st round NBA draft pick" looks great on a resume overseas if he doesn't get an opportunity here.

Hairston is a dumbass allowing criminals/drug dealers to own him. Unfortunately this occurs way too often with these kids.

Nothing official yet, UNC is waiting for the legal process to play out, but I'm told the staff is preparing to play this season without P.J. Hairston.  The weed is one thing, the gun is something else entirely.  Add on the issue of who was driving and who the rented car belonged to, and Hairston is in some serious trouble.  UNC will have a tough time replacing his perimeter scoring, McAdoo is going to have to make a HUGE leap this year for UNC to compete with the top teams in the ACC.

The charges against Hairston could end up being less serious in which case he'll get suspended for part of the season, not all of it, but based on what's being reported I don't expect to see him this year.

On the Duke side of things, the Okafor/Jones recruting may not end up being a package deal.  Whispers are that Tyus Jones is leaning heavily for Duke, but Okafor may end up at Ohio State instead of joining Jones.  I still think they head somewhere together and I'd put Duke as the favorite right now, but it doesn't appear to be a lock that they go together.
