That probably was as big a part of them fizzling out as anything. One imagines a non-rapist Wander Franco might help.

I was more curious why they kept talking about it.I’m not surprised he was asked, because Kay and Arod were second guessing the decision all game on the broadcast.
I think it was worth a question, but not to second guess. TheRaysJays didn’t score any runs, so not sure it is a big deal. But it was a really odd choice — it would be nice to know why he pulled him, if the question could be taken as a “just curious” instead of “you fucked up.”
Maybe Woodruff's injury did too.I wonder if the rumors about Counsell and the Mets had any effect on the players.
I don't like those Chuck Fairbanks/Bill Parcells type situations.I wonder if the rumors about Counsell and the Mets had any effect on the players.
This is a good point. An injury to a key player, especially a pitcher, could be dishearteningMaybe Woodruff's injury did too.
It's such a shame, too. When you lose one of your top pitchers right when the playoffs are about to begin, that definitely stings. This is a good point. An injury to a key player, especially a pitcher, could be disheartening
Agreed.H.E.R. doing that Nationwide jingle has to be the best performance in an ad of all time. Her voice is a hell of an instrument.
A child prodigy. Not quite same but she has Prince level talent.H.E.R. doing that Nationwide jingle has to be the best performance in an ad of all time. Her voice is a hell of an instrument.
Santana is the guy tooBig psychological moment right here! If the Brewers score, they'll likely feel more confident. If they don't score, it's probably over.

Tangential point--he's only 53 so maybe he wants a new challenge, but I've always thought that the Brewers were a destination job for Counsell. I think he'll hate working in NY.I wonder if the rumors about Counsell and the Mets had any effect on the players.
Not Smooth by Carlos Santana.Santana is the guy too
I know who she is and have for some time. I'm just saying...that's a fucking JINGLE, and she slays.A child prodigy. Not quite same but she has Prince level talent.
Meh. People only say that about the Rays and A’s. The Yankees have won the WS once in their last 18 postseason appearances. Postseason isn’t *all* luck. But a lot of it is.Rays always seem built to succeed over the regular season, but are missing the certain something in the playoffs. That's probably wrong on my part, but something isn't there
I thought so in real time, but I think he did the right thing the whole way.Bad read by Yelich
And off he goes Into The NightNot Smooth by Carlos Santana.
Really good decision by Carroll, though. Young dude like him, it had to be hard to resist trying to make an awesome, but impossible play.Bad read by Yelich
Okay, then it's up to Lexington's Sal FrelickI thought so in real time, but I think he did the right thing the whole way.
Who probably just broke his own foot.Okay, then it's up to Lexington's Sal Frelick
I had not put two and two together — I forgot his big time history as a diamondback. He had a little Pedroia in him as a player — not as good obviously, but a real dirt dog.A little Craig Counsell story...I was managing a nightclub here on Maui early 90's. Hawaii had a Winter League of Baseball affiliates from Japan and MLB.
Counsell was the only player to play two Winters in a row, the first couple years. All these young guys would hang out there after the games. We were a sponsor. So I got to spend a lot of time talking with the guys. Counsell was one of the nicest more focused guys. Just a lot of fun to get to know. He's the real deal. He's about to get paid and deserves it all.
