I am pumped for Arizona. They struggled down the stretch, but man this is a fun, fun team to watch.
Another side note...Doug Glanville, who's doing the color on this game, played that first year and was a team mate of Counsell. These guys were Single and Double A kids.
They should consider reseeding. It's just less interesting to have two intradivisional playoff series.
I was wondering who was doing the game — the other guy keeps calling him Dougie. I was going to look it up after the game. He has been great.
Was thinking the same thing last night. I know what Jake Burger looks like but he is aptly named. If that was my name, I'd have dog named after fried potato sticks.
There may be 20 people on the planet who love baseball and have as much fun around the game as Doug Glanville, but I would bet the under.
Why the fuck did the Mariners trade Sewald to Arizona? That was their missing piece. Here he is trying to get his second save and get them to the division series, while the Mariners missed by one game.

Credit to Hazen, man. He had a team out of the top 6 and went out and got what they needed. Now they move on.
The biggest problem with Jerry Dipoto’s quotes from Tuesday, when he said, “We’re actually doing the fanbase a favor by asking for their patience to win the World Series while we continue to build a sustainably good roster,” is not that he spoke at all.

Maybe he really is too smart for the room and it pays off in 2027 or whatever. And the Dbacks probably aren’t beating the Dodgers and Braves. But, fuck — at least they are trying and have developed a really strong identity.
Even so, they did just barely back into the playoffs and the Mariners just missed. One game either way, I guess, makes you an idiot or a genius.
It would be nice for the new GM to pick up a relief pitcher that can throw 100 mph. Just for the hell of it. Seems like everyone else has one.

Yeah. I am still really excited about the future that Chaim set up, but postseason baseball is a reminder that I should be pretty okay that he got fired.
This new wild card round sucks. Too many mediocre teams, too few memorable moments, too much stretching out the playoffs. The old one game playoff was either a great single game or out of the way quick to get into the divisional round, so the World Series didn't stretch into November. I'd like to see them switch back to 10 teams max making the playoffs. Or even go back to 8.
