I feel like the refs may have made a mistake

Edit: nope I was wrong. Amazing the lions messed that up

Wouldn’t shock me if the refs fucked up the reporting call, but once they did, you kick it. Campbell’s an idiot.
In the midst of all of this, my son was like "he is going for it again out of anger - this is stupid," and he was absolutely right.

Yeah, wasn't the video they just showed having Decker (the receiver) report? He is #68 and he went right to the official with another player while #70 came on the field (and wasn't an eligible receiver).

How would they have fucked up the call? They would not have forgotten he reported. Occam’s razor would be he did not report.

Goff had the two pointer and made a bad throw

lions have a lot of awesome players but their qb will be their bottleneck

Detroit doesn’t want to play OT with the division wrapped up. Fine with continuing to go all in there.

Had a nice play call on the first two pointer but execution got botched probably by multiple people.

McCarthy is a buffoon.

He probably was supposed to line up on the end of the OL but off the LOS, yet he went ahead and just did what he did as the LT every other snap of the game and was on the LOS as usual.

Need to see a still photo of the conversation. Who were the seven men on the line? If 68 (in his standard LT) position is supposed to be eligible, that means they had to have three ineiligibles on the right of the center, which I don't think they did.

Obviously the call to go for 2 from the 7 is on the head coach, but shouldn't the OC be screaming at him to kick the extra point there? I think I'd refuse to even call a play. Take another delay of game if you have to. Would Campbell have gone for 2 from the 12? Did he think they were down by 2?

So many questions.... I can't get over how ridiculous that was.

The Parson offsides ended up giving them a more reasonable chance but the entire thing was so bizarre.

Interesting — so if two declared eligible maybe that is the problem.

What am I missing in terms of why the last 2pt attempt was from the 4 yard line? Illegal formation was a 5 yeard penalty and brought to the 7. Offside was a 5 yard penalty and shoudl have brought it back to the 2, no?

Everyone blows Campbell for being ballsy but he's constantly doing stupid shit like this and not taking points early in games.

Guy is a moron.
He's both. If he ever wins a big playoff game it'll be luck but he's also probably motivating as hell to play for and gets a lot out of his guys for that reason.

I might be misremembering, but wasn’t he lined up at the end of the LOS (uncovered, so effectively a TE with a guard snapping the ball)?

Neither coach wanted to play Overtime. Long season and both have a playoff game in 2 weeks.

Yup - he deserves a lot of credit for turning around the culture there…but man does he make some shaky decisions

Half the distance since it's so close. So that became a 2.5 yard penalty.

Half the distance. Kinda bullshit that offense gets full penalty but defense only gives up half but that is the rule.

Half the distance, so the 3.5 yard line

Even if he had, I think it’s a penalty anyways because the was on the LOS and there was another eligible receiver outside of him on the LOS. I’m not 100 percent sure with the tv angle, though, that the outside receiver was on the LOS, so maybe the refs would’ve said the outside WR was lined up appropriately. Also not sure who is the purportedly ineligible player wearing a WR/TE/RB number there, too.

The offside penalty is half the distance to the goal if assessed inside the ten yard line, which translates to 3.5 yards.

Offsides on Parsons is half the distance to the goal.
