How many times in the last three plus years have they had the ball with a chance to win or tie? Fumbles and turnovers on downs every time.

We hung with a potentially Championship-caliber team, but we also fucking squandered some golden chances to shock them and take it.

Outside of the first quarter Mac was fucking Excellent today. He came up big. Anyone blaming this on him just hates him

Not kicking the field goal killed them. They win if they did and I hate that I am saying that.
I agree but it’s hard to say this. Every situation, field position, etc plays out differently if they kick it. There’s no telling if we get the ball at the end because the Eagles come up short on a 4th.

Mac was fine. He made good plays, he made some bad ones, he got good protection throughout, but was let down by his receivers at times. This game is not on him at all, but I don't think it's all that encouraging either. It was okay.

At the end of the day they had a shit ton of drives and great field position all game and came up with 20 points. It is what it is.

I knew not kicking that field goal earlier would come back to bite them. That decision was giving me AFCCG in Denver vibes.

Average QB wins this game.
Boutte couldn't get his feet down on two massive plays that any receiver should be able to make in the NFL, Bourne dropped a massive third down conversion. Mac completely outplayed Hurts today.

People are fucking insane if they want to pin this one on Mac.

AJ Brown and Smith out there instead of Boutte and Pop and JuJu, the Pats win this going away.

encouraging performance? I think?
VERY encouraging performance. Again, they were nut punched in the first 10 minutes, down 16-0 and looking like they were going to get absolutely rolled. They hung in there, got the offense going, and had a chance at the end to win it. Against one of the best teams in the NFL.

Little mistakes did them in yet again. It’s hard to see them turning that corner. It just isn’t happening.
You are right, but I hope you are wrong.

Take out the first 10 minutes of the game and they were the better team. If we want to be nice, assume it was first-game jitters and they have turned the corner. Otherwise, its going to be another frustrating season.

If you look exclusively at the poorer throws and ignore the 300 of passing yards, 3 TDs, and key drops, you can put this loss squarely on Mac Jones.

He wasn’t fine. He was very good. But very predictable response.

the protection was not good at all. Ball came out fast all day. Anytime he really needed time he didn’t get it

Yep. And of course Philly's K nailed a kick from a mile away, and then made another long one after hitting the upright. In the stats are for losers department:

First downs: NE 24, Phi 17
Total yards: NE 382, Phi 251
Yards per play: NE 4.9, Phi 4.1

The Patriots more than held their own against an elite team.

This seems like a recurring theme. For whatever reason, they just can’t score points.

How many times do we need to see another failed fourth quarter comeback drive before Mac starts to get some of the blame?

To be clear, I don’t think he played badly, but he has shown an inability to make the big play/drive when it counts. One or two games you can chalk that up to other players/luck/coaching but at a certain point you just have to execute.

Defense got them the ball twice at midfield with a chance to win and the offense stalled twice.

Both drives ended with terrible series resulting in a 4th and 11 and 4th and 12. Whatever came before, they blew it. Two chances at home. Zilch.

How the fuck are people blaming this on Mac?
Because too many Pats fans have only watched Tom Brady for the last 20 years.

The Venn diagram of people that shit on Mac after every incompletion and people that only watch highlights of other games and Pats games is a circle.

Mac haters need to STFU. He answered the bell today against one of the best teams in the NFL.
Overall he was average because that pick 6 was a 10-17 point swing. But, last drive he has Boutte wide open for an easy NFL QB TD and doesn’t make the play. Pats are gonna need a QB who makes these throws in big moments. Averageish seems about right at this point in time, but not a guy you’re giving a QB contract to.

Again, outside Henry, he does not have a reliable receiver to make plays. Tua looks amazing because he has Hill and Waddle.
