Wow I didn't think they'd send him to DL land while still in April. Wonder what this could mean for Castillo. No reason to keep the insurance plan in pawtucket unless the SP continues to drain the BP.Still could just bite the bullet and dfa Mujica,.

Castillo is returning from the DL himself this Wednesday. I imagine he'll need at least a week to get ready, if not more.

They could bring up JBJ if they need another outfielder in the meantime, but this seems like a chance to get Craig a few more ABs and see if he can get going.

Barnes should have broken camp if talent was all that mattered in the decision making. With Breslow and Varvaro's reverse split there is no reason why Ross Jr is here over Barnes.

Curious as to why they felt they still needed an extra pitcher- and if so, why they didn't just hold on to Barnes (unless they want him starting). Uehara certainly unavailable today, but everyone else should be fine. Would think another bat would have been more useful and likely to impact today's game.

 
I'm guessing it's because they don't want to use Koji and Miley's IP so far have been 5.1, 2.1, 5.2

Barnes threw 27 pitches last night, and should be unavailable for the following day game; Tazawa and Ogando have been overworked; and the bullpen needs more warm bodies in case of a blowout. Miley had to be pulled in the 5th inning twice and the 3rd inning once, so he's hardly a lock to pitch deep into the game.
 
The Pawtucket shuttle for 2015 now includes Wright, Layne, Barnes and Hembree.
