That makes sense.  They're just using the roster spot cleared by the Mujica DFA to provide insurance for Ferris Ortiz' Day Off.  I assume Shaw goes down and Barnes(?) up for the weeknd.

Shaw hitting .189 in 98 ABs at Pawtucket. Not sure why he is deserving of callup.
.197 BABIP in AAA.  13% K rate.  Maybe they want someone with a good eye because Sanchez doesn't throw strikes.  I hope this lineup takes a lot of pitches tonight.

Because it's one game and Ortiz is out?

It should be just one day of insurance, but he's actually starting at 1B tonight?!

It's mostly because he's on the 40 man

But they could have put Craig at first (instead of in left) and called up JBJ to play in left for a game.  (They'd still have Holt and even Nava as emergency fill ins at 1st)

Maybe they don't want to mess with JBJ while he's on a roll in AAA?

Are we still within the 10 days of  JBJ's last callup? Having trouble keeping up with the roster juggling.

I'd assume that, sometime in the next couple days, we'll either get Ramirez back or put him on the DL and recall JBJ/Brentz.

In the words of the late Ed McMahon, you are correct sir.  I think tomorrow is 10 days for JBJ.  That explains why Shaw was their best option for a position player in the field.  (Castillo has not yet played in the field after his DL stint)

I've seen him go deep off Sanchez in Hadlock.
