But that guy is a much better football player than Tebow.I guess he's doing better than that guy the Red Sox drafted a few years ago who had like 40 hit less at bats in the GCL and whiffed 75 percent of the time.
Shaq Thompson. 0/39 with 37 strikeouts.I guess he's doing better than that guy the Red Sox drafted a few years ago who had like 40 hit less at bats in the GCL and whiffed 75 percent of the time.
Tim Tebow did not get an invitation to the New York Mets' major league spring training camp, despite his manager's wishes.
Instead, he will report to the Mets' minor-league camp in Port St. Lucie, Fla. to continue his pursuit of a major league career. Tebow was omitted from the list of major league camp invitees announced by the Mets on Wednesday.
I hope he's buying nutritious food for his teammatesTim Tebow will begin his professional baseball journey in 2017 with the New York Mets' Class A team in Columbia, South Carolina.
The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner was told Monday that he will be assigned to the Columbia Fireflies, the Mets' affiliate in the South Atlantic League.
I'm sure the Fireflies are thrilled.
Tebow homered off Domenic Mazza, who was drafted in the 22nd round by the Giants in 2015...That was pick No. 666.
BA up to .246, OPS up to .725. Ready for a promotion?
It isn't unusual for the company newsletter to feature employee's recreational sports achievements...good for morale with the layoffs and all.And for this he gets on the front page of ESPN.com
From the article on MLB.com:63 games played, .222/.311/.340 slash line, 3 HR, 22 RBI, nearly as many Ks as total bases, and....he's been promoted from Low-A to "Advanced" A-ball. At this pace, he'll be at Citi Field in no time.
Either they're looking to spread the ticket sales bump around their system or this is solely to make some room on the Columbia roster for some of their new draftees. Or maybe Alderson isn't lying when he claims that Tebow has earned his promotion.
I don't think there is published data on minor league exit velocities, but I can look at his ISO numbers to fact check that.Though Tebow was batting just .222 with a .651 OPS in 63 games for Columbia, Alderson said the team has been impressed with his increased exit velocity and isolated power, among other advanced metrics. More than a third of Tebow's hits have gone for extra bases, including three home runs.
That's not ISOlated power, it's In Searh Of power! From the article on MLB.com:
I don't think there is published data on minor league exit velocities, but I can look at his ISO numbers to fact check that.
Tebow's Iso for the year: .118
Tebow's Iso for the month of June: .109
He's on fire!
Tim Tebow is the perfect hero in the age of Trump.Stats aside, Tim Tebow's promotion gives Mets needed feel-good story
I'm surprised how he's doing. 650 OPS in professional baseball is not so embarrassing. The dream was dead before he even began though.63 games played, .222/.311/.340 slash line, 3 HR, 22 RBI, nearly as many Ks as total bases, and....he's been promoted from Low-A to "Advanced" A-ball. Everyone said Trump had no chance, tooTim Tebow is the perfect hero in the age of Trump.
Michael Jordan put up a .556 OPS, but that was in AA. Tebow has a ways to go to get to that level.I'm surprised how he's doing. 650 OPS in professional baseball is not so embarrassing. The dream was dead before he even began though.
On ticket sales bumps, the Columbia Fireflies aren't owned by the Mets, but the St. Lucie Mets are.63 games played, .222/.311/.340 slash line, 3 HR, 22 RBI, nearly as many Ks as total bases, and....he's been promoted from Low-A to "Advanced" A-ball. At this pace, he'll be at Citi Field in no time.

It's much better than Garth Brooks or Kevin Costner could do too.Michael Jordan put up a .556 OPS, but that was in AA. Tebow has a ways to go to get to that level.
I would say that on a scale from Tim Robbins to Bo Jackson, he's basically a Michael Jordan. Which sounds better than it is.It's much better than Garth Brooks or Kevin Costner could do too.
Pretty impressive actually. It's so hard to hate on this guy.Walkoff HR tonight, he's actually hitting pretty well so far in high A:

Yeah, well, that's like your opinion, man.Pretty impressive actually. It's so hard to hate on this guy.
One of my co-workers is a rabid Mets fan. He talks about Tebow as if he's Barry Bonds and he is 100% convinced that a September call up is coming. It's rather nauseating. It's not likely to let, but he's playing well right now. All my Christian friends on Facebook are acting like he's Aaron Judge. Someone actually posted that he was going to get a September call up.
"Original Tebow was, in fact, one of the best players on the team, mostly because he stayed healthy the entire year. He finished hitting .182/.218/.275, which is certainly good enough for the Major leagues if you have Ecksteinesque scrappiness, a statistic which OOTP strangely fails to track. He also struck out 215 times, but sabermetrics says that strikeouts aren’t that bad anyways. He’s like Mark Reynolds, if Mark Reynolds had a broken arm in addition to blindness."Quality post on what would happen if the whole Mets squad were Tim Tebow.

They absolutely will. It's like the Metsiest move ever.If the Mets think he'll sell tickets and it won't cause a 40 man roster issue, then why wouldn't they?
Other than the whole 'pissing off lifelong baseball players' thing, but they haven't cared about that so far . . .
