Holding at the LOS on routine running plays is dumb. If it's protecting the QB it's one thing, but you can't put yourself in first and 20 against Denver.

Dumb play by Smith. That was a screen; you can't just hold the ball and hope for the best if the receiver isn't open. Smith looked legitimately surprised that Miller was in the backfield.

Edit: it's obviously even worse if the receiver was open.
