Don’t know if this means he tested positive or had close contacts, but it’s a disaster.

In what sense is it a disaster? They're clearly good enough that they'll make the playoffs, and every team is going to go through stuff like this.Don’t know if this means he tested positive or had close contacts, but it’s a disaster.

Yeah, I don't understand this. Timelord tested positive, and even if everyone else tested negative, it may have been too early for them to test positive, but they could still already have been infected. They just played last night. Doesn't that put the rest of the team on the list?
Yeah, if he’s not positive, it’s whatever, but my mind jumped to a worst case scenario- our star player has a disease with potential long-term health consequences and was likely a close contact with everyone who’s not already out. Unlikely, but it’s been a shit year so its a Pavlovian response to bad news.In what sense is it a disaster? They're clearly good enough that they'll make the playoffs, and every team is going to go through stuff like this.
I'm guessing the players weren't open to a 6-7 month bubble add opposed to a 1-2 month one to finish the season and have the playoffs. Why didn’t the league do the bubble again? I didn’t really pay attention when they announced the season start.
Be curious if 2 players fouled out/got ejected.
Sixers down to 6 players
Come on. That's not possible for NBA players. Why don’t they play in masks? My girls do for their basketball leagues and yes it sucks – but it’s not impossible either.
It was hyperbole. You relax.A disaster is serious health effects or death. Relax.
Be curious if 2 players fouled out/got ejected.
Yes, I believe it does.If it's 10-14 days, doesn't that mean he did test positive? I hope he gets through it without issue.
I believe it happened recently in a college game with Alabama/SextonBe curious if 2 players fouled out/got ejected.
We'll all get to see Nesmith anyway.
I think 8 players need to dress
But seriously, isn't there a minimum a team has to dress in order for a game to take place? Six doesn't seem like enough.
Even wearing masks wouldn’t guarantee it doesn’t spread. Why don’t they play in masks? My girls do for their basketball leagues and yes it sucks – but it’s not impossible either.
If you're down to 5 players left and someone fouls out that player stays in the game but any foul beyond the 6th on him is also a team technical. It happened maybe 5-10 years ago to some team that rested half its roster in a meaningless to them game 82.Be curious if 2 players fouled out/got ejected.
Played six games in one day with six players once. Our team was only nine guys, and this tourney was up in Maine. Three guys couldn't get away for some reason or other. Never stretched so much in one day. Calf and hammies were toast for everyone.

Of course not. I’m just interested in knowing whether it was ever even discussed by the league and union. Personally I don’t think it’s impossible and it would def. lower the transmission rates.Even wearing masks wouldn’t guarantee it doesn’t spread.
Union said it was non-starter. Also, bubble for what 18-20 teams for a few games before playoffs is doable. For the entire league for the entire season, not doableWhy didn’t the league do the bubble again? I didn’t really pay attention when they announced the season start.
It sucks but we all know this was a possibility. I hope nobody else tests positive, and if the Celtics drop some winnable games in January because Javonte Green had to play 36 minutes, so be it.
Celtics will be fine, next man up
Yepyepyep. It's only a disaster if you care about the regular season record, and we don't particularly. There's no home court advantage, we have to face the same teams eventually, who cares how many games we actually win this season.
Its an opportunity to give more opportunities to our bench especially on offense.
NBA teams are expecting to have fans in the playoffs, even the CelticsIt's only a disaster if you care about the regular season record, and we don't particularly. There's no home court advantage, we have to face the same teams eventually, who cares how many games we actually win this season.

Philly got it up to 8 & Mike Scott won't play.At what point do they shut a team down? Obviously you can't play with fewer than five active players. Are the Sixers really down to six? How do you run teams out there with six players? Aren't you just increasingly the risk of injury, for one?
Has Tatum actually tested positive, or was he just around TL or others who may have been positive at the time?Timelord and Tatum positive in the last few days. Would be pretty lucky for no one else to test positive in the coming week.
Guessing the All-NBA voters will adjust for this, and other big names will miss significant time too.Assuming he’s fine (overwhelmingly likely), losing 9 games still could cost him a seat at the All- NBA table. I think he’s still a good bet, but he was basically a shoo-in for at least 2nd team, with a shot at 1st, plus a shot at the All-Defense squad. As far as the team’s concerned, yeah, it’ll be ugly for the next 2 weeks (seriously, a bunch of people are about to learn how impactful JT is on both ends of the court), but not particularly meaningful this year. With his slow (relatively) start last year compared to how he finished, I suppose there’s a possibility he loses some of the momentum he was building in terms of building up his game during the regular season, but there’ll still be plenty of time for him to blow up once the playoffs come around.
JT with the Covid, JB with the remedy!
(assuming he, too, does not have Covid)
My understanding is that it wouldn't be announced as 10-14 days if it wasn't a positive test, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.Has Tatum actually tested positive, or was he just around TL or others who may have been positive at the time?
It's not, although Tatum probably doesn't think so (even aside from contract). Players care about this stuff more than fans do.Why is Tatum making all NBA important outside of contractual triggers?
Tatum (and others) stands to lose millions if there’s no All-NBA this year. They should skip all-nba, all star teams (no game anyway), and season awards this year.
