Hi.

I have an iPhone 5 that used to sync for iTunes purposes with my Dell laptop (running Windows 7).

I just got a new Macbook and would like to sync iTunes between it and the phone. iPhoto syncs, butiTunes doesnt and the Finder on the laptop doesnt even see the phone when I plug it in.

I'm a moron re: Apple stuff. Is there a one-computer-per-phone rule, or some other problem? I am updating the OS on both computer and phone but can't figure out what else to do.

Thanks.

I should add that I dont care about preserving the existing library of songs; I'm going to start over anyway.

My sense is that each phone/iPod can only sync to one computer. You can change which computer that is, however. It is supposed to prompt you to do so when you connect the phone by USB.

There's a setting that controls whether things like phones appear in Finder, so that may not matter.

Is it possible that you just don't see the phone in iTunes? The new version looks a bit different.

It should pop up a dialog offering to reset the library of songs etc. on the phone when you plug it into a new computer.
