Even on Sunday, it's a crap schedule. A 9:40pm game start on a Sunday is inexcusable.
I can somewhat understand with the game being on the west coast, but it's still late.  The 8:40 east coast game is just as bad.  What is going on in Raleigh that they can't start their 2 games before 6pm?

Pretty sure the networks are dictating the times. The big problem is they don't want any competition for the UK/Wichita State game. I hate the afternoon gap.

This is 100% correct.

One of the consequences of the most recent TV deal signed by the NCAA is that it forces them (the NCAA) to prioritize the needs of their media partners over those of the viewing public.  (To say nothing of the kids playing the games.)

This causes the schedule to be manipulated so the NCAA can (1) isolate (to the extent possible) games played in traditionally "dead" media times so that the networks can charge a premium for ads; and (2) push as many games as possible back to early evening/prime time, where ad rates are much higher.

This is the new reality of sports programming.

Stanford looking pretty sharp so far. Powell just made Wiggins his bitch on a huge blocked shot from behind.

Every Stanford bucket is a rare jewel to be cherished. Holy cow, this team's offense is offensive.
Someone tweeted that stadium security had to confiscate alcohol that was being smuggled into the arena by the Stanford band (in the tubas)

Yeah, that's pretty standard. It was way cooler back in the 70s when nobody cared; at football games the band literally had a bartender and a full bar on the field, with like fifteen extension cords strung together so he could plug in a blender and make blended drinks. When I was there, it had to be slightly more subtle; you had to make sure, when grabbing a water bottle, that you were drinking "water," not "WATER." Because that was gin or vodka.

Is 3-5PM on a Sunday really that dead? What else are you gonna do on the east coast? Shop for groceries?

Wiggins is MIA today. Every big time player rumored to come out hasn't impressed me much. Most of these guys need another season by the looks of it.

He does, though how a team with a guy that talented has him 6th in shot attempts this game is crazy.

I had a dream where they did a sign and trade with Miami for Lebron with the picks and Wallace's contract., `

Every time a shot goes in for Stanford, I'm genuinely shocked. If I was still in my 20s I'd do a shot for every five points. I mean, they hit a jump shot and I'm over the fucking moon.

I'm all about upsets and I'm happy to see Stanford win, but I'd like to see Embiid play in the next round against quality opponents.

That palming call was awful. I mean, refs have pretty much forgotten the base definition of a "carry" for the past 20 years, opting to ignore the playground-style dribbling where the hand is often under the ball and rolls over the top of it as the player goes to bounce it. Why choose to call it today? What made that play any more egregious than the 300 million similar moves made over the past 2 decades?

They've called a significant amount of them in this tourney, I can remember at least 3 or 4 I've seen.

I still hate the possession arrow.  I've hated the possession arrow ever since the 1998 semifinal against Kentucky.

I've seen similar plays called where the player actually takes more than 2 steps while his hand is cupping the ball. That's different. Those were actual "travels".

That wasn't the case there. He used the maneuver before launching from a standstill past his defender.
