Looks like he stuck in a 4 way tie for 7th. I think this will leave him with around 91 K in earnings for the week

Jumps up 14 spots in the FedEx Cup standings to 132. Nice to get something in the bank during this stretch when there aren’t a lot of starts available for players in his priority tier. He’s going to slide down for a few weeks but at least picked up something.

Elevated event/Invitational (Genesis)
WGC + alternate event
Elevated event/Invitational (API)
The Players
Regular event (Honda)
WGC + alternate event (Dominican)
Regular event (Valero)
Masters

2 month stretch where he only gets 2 regular starts (if he can priority wise). Hard to keep pace with just the alternates.

On the telecast his eagle was selected as the shot of the day. They were pumping him up after laying up on the drivable 17th and then hitting a wedge to 4ft and then make birdie. Fun to watch.

FWIW, that's not "chipping in for eagle from just short of the green", as per the video caption - that's pitching in for eagle from well short of the green. (Mixing up "chipping" and "pitching" is often a tell that someone doesn't know enough about golf to really be covering golf; I remember Brent Musburger screwing that up in the Masters studio, for example.)

Nice shot, btw. :)

In the field at the Honda Classisc. E through 3 holes as he gets underway.

Very weak field for a regular tournament, good opportunity to pick up some points and money with a good finish.

Not the day for Rob. Even through six holes, drove it in the bunker on 16 (his 7th of the day). Second shot comes up 25 yards short of the hole, finds the water, and leads to a triple. On his back nine, he missed only 3 greens, but failed to get it up and down each time. Add in a 3 putt from 22 feet and you end up with 38 on the back, even with a closing birdie. 75 in total +5, T-131.

He's a POS who among many things was caught hitting on high school girls on Twitter in a very creepy manner.

I'd also put his politics and twitter presence right next to Curt Schilling, as well.

Looking at Rob's stats:
  • Driving accuracy is greatly improved in 2020-21. 62% FIR in 2020, 65% in 2021. He sat around 55% in previous full years. Clearly he put some work in there.
  • Driving distance remains on the lower end of the tour spectrum. He's averaging around 285 (109 mph clubhead speed) and despite picking up a couple yards in recent years so has everyone else.

3 solid rounds of 68 69 68 and Rob is -11 and in top 15 . He got as high as T7 during the round. His putter is on fire. At one point he was top 5 in SG putting this week. Everyone is going low so a round in the mid 60s tomorrow is necessary to stay top 20.

Rob is in Purchase, NY in final qualifying for the us open. Not a real strong field there so only 4 spots available to the 79 players. He is E through 5. They play 36 holes today. There are another 8 qualifiers across the country today.

Great thanks. Does he play with a similar amount of rage as I’m sure DotB does?
Rob is the dictionary definition of mild-mannered. I've known him for almost 20 years, and folks around here started following him soon thereafter. There were threads, believe it or not, before this one ever started. W'ere well over a decade of Rob being SoSH's favorite golf journeyman. He's a great guy, and his career has been pretty much amazing to watch. He's bounced back and forth between the PGA Tour and the Web/Nationwide/Korn Ferry for years. Lost his Korn Ferry card one year, and only got it back when he made a hole in one on the 2nd to last hole of the Q School. Then he missed the PGA Tour by finishing 26th in points in the regular season on the Nationwide Tour by $100, and then got on the tour when he finished 25th by about $100, hence the term "bubble boy."

If Rob had a 10 shot lead in a tour event with 4 holes to go, he'd be tied for the lead going to 18, because he will never make it easy on us.

Play to resume in purchase, ny at 5:15ET. Rob is T3 through 8 at -2 along with 3 other players 4, another 4 at -1. He's got two par 5 on the back 9 of this par 71, other course is par 70. Maybe the rain will slow the greens to allow him to knock a couple close coming in

Didn’t he miss out on a chance to get his card due to a hurricane cancelling a tournament or something?
Yep. When the Nationwide went to 4 tournaments for their playoff system, the top 25 in earnings in those 4 tournaments got a PGA card. Rob was right around 26th or something after 3 events, and the 4th got cancelled due to a hurricane. No card.

Someone should write a book someday about Rob's career. If he won a single PGA Tour event, so you have your dramatic ending, it would be an unbelievable story.

Nice start at the Palmetto Championship in South Carolina. He's -5 for the tournament through 13 holes in round 2. That is good for T7. Chesson Hadley has separated and leads at -11 but then there is 5 players tied for 2nd only a shot ahead of Rob at -6.

He needs some high finishes. He's currently 159th in the FedEx Cup standings. He'll only have 7 tournaments available to him (2 being alternate events) after this to get into the top 125 to retain his card.

Edit: As I type this he rolls in a 29 footer for birdie on 14 to get to -6. T3 now.

3 putts made of 19 feet today. He is positive in strokes gained in all categories through 2 rounds.
A top 5 gets him really close to 125 for the year. Datagolf gives him 16% chance of top 5..

6 holes left in the tourney and Rob is hanging in tie 14th at -7. Would love to see him find a way to make 2-3 more birdies down the stretch

(and he follows up with an immediate really bad 3 putt to give the stroke back

Rob stands at 218 pts. 125th place is at 327. The 125th place has gone up 11 pts per week on average since the beginning of 2021 (sony open). So that means he needs to get to about 420 pts. Getting inside top150 gets him some status as well, but not as many starts. That will end up closer to 325 pts.
With 7 events including 2 opposite field events he needs to average 29th place...18th in oppo events. With 1 MC that goes to 22nd and 12th. With 2 MC that goes to 22nd and 10th. Thats assuming he gets into all events. Probably not a great assumption.

Getting top 5 or 10 in thise oppo events with less competition would really help.
