Good for them. All deserving, and a nice reward for a season of hard work.

McCourty probably deserved it as well, and Collins would have been a nice surprise, but no biggie.

Edit: Sorry, now that this was combined I should make clear I was referring just to the Patriots.

Just watching NFLN and they teased something about Odell Beckham not making the Pro Bowl, which I thought was pretty surprising. Until I looked at the list of WRs. Tough one to crack.

Here
I'd have picked Wilson over Luck, though I can see the argument for either.

I agree and, while I see the counterargument, I think Wilson is clearly the more effective QB.  Higher QBR and passer rating and 13 turnovers vs Luck's 27. And that's with Luck playing his traditional cupcake schedule vs what the Seahawks face.

A.J. Green is the one I'd leave off. Sanders deserves to be on the list instead of Green, and in lieu of half the other Broncos on the list. I agree Calvin versus Beckham is the battle for the last spot, and Beckham has the better year. I guess rookie and playoff v. Non-playoffs made the difference. You could actually make a case for Maclin or Tate too.

Is this any more important than the AP All Pro-Team or whatever it's called? No one watches the game anymore anyway since they moved it a week ahead of the Super Bowl.

Not being played in Hawaii anymore or in alternating years doesn't make it that appealing to the players and their families.  So other than a contract bonus, how many guys are that excited about going to Arizona to play in a meaningless game?

Clady has been downright bad this year.  Last I checked PFF, he was one of the lowest ranked offensive lineman, let alone LTs.

Ward at least plays well in one dimension of the game...

Yeah, Odell Beckham not making it is a joke. He was the best receiver in football the second half of the season.

Best receiver in football? Not even the best rookie receiver...ever heard of John Brown?

We all know the pro bowl stuff is pretty silly.

Except...... When it comes time to vote for the hall of fame, things like the number of pro bowl selections absolutely DO matter. It's not clear WHY they should matter, but they do.

Fletcher Cox as the 6th(!) alternate is ridiculous he has been simply fantastic this season. He's becoming a complete stud and no one seems to have noticed except the teams he's played against. Ask the Cowboys.

Overall I love the NFL but I'm pretty sure the absolute least interesting thing about the league is the Pro Bowl. Nothing worse than watching a bunch of pro athletes play at 40% effort for 60 minutes. The production is also way too cute and feels so ESPNish every year.

I've never watched a pro bowl

I'm not as knowledgable as many here but I have to think Jamie Collins is a pro bowl player??

Am I misguided?

No, you're not, but in reality it's a bit of a recognition of a career as well a year, which is fair enough (because who really cares?). Collins, Sheldon Richardson plenty of other deserving young players (not sure how Aaron Donald made it, though, though that was a heckuva pick for the Rams).

It's a huge mistake in moving the Pro Bowl from Hawaii to Arizona. All of the players and their families were shown so much aloha. They loved Hawaii with
everything it has to offer. So now they get to go to Arizona, visit the Grand Canyon, and look at cactus trees. Epic fail by the NFL.
