For the game of the week, regular old over-the-air NBC, I believe.

There's a breakdown of how many games will be on each network here.  It looks like NBC Sports Network is the primary broadcast network.

I like that he called them both Tottenham Hotspurs and Tottenham Spurs in the first 15 seconds, making sure to commit 2 name faux pas right off the bat.

In addition to the above schedule, all games will be shown live on NBC Sports Live Extra, the app from NBC that is accessible via the web, mobile and tablet devices — as long as your TV provider offers the service to you (which is being offered free of charge to TV providers by NBC Sports).
Lead play-by-play voice Arlo White joins former Premier League star and four-time league champion Lee Dixon to call the 12:30 PM ET Saturday matches on NBC in the first three weeks – Swansea-Manchester United on Aug. 17; Aston Villa-Liverpool on Aug. 24; and Crystal Palace-Sunderland on Aug. 31.
Arlo White teams with Graeme Le Saux, the former Premier League star who played in 36 international matches for England, to call two Sunday matches and one Monday game on NBC Sports Network in the first three weeks – Chelsea-Hull City at 11:00 AM ET on Sunday, Aug. 18; Manchester United-Chelsea at 3:00 PM ET on Monday, Aug. 26; and Liverpool-Manchester United at 8:30 AM ET on Sunday, Sept. 1.  Legendary footballer and presenter Gary Lineker will serve as a special contributor to NBC Sports Group’s Premier League coverage.
All matches will be preceded and followed by Premier League Live pre- and post-match shows from the NBC Sports Group International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn. Rebecca Lowe  hosts Premier League Livealongside former Jamaican National Team player Robbie Earle, former U.S. National Team midfielder Kyle Martino, and former English footballer Robbie Mustoe.

Emphasis not mine. Lots of televised Spurs, interesting move picking Newcastle-West Ham over Everton-West Brom, but neither of those games scream ratings. Right now I have Comcast and the overflow channels aren't on the guide. Anyone else have the Extra Time channels yet?

I wonder how they are going to handle Saturday afternoons when college football starts. Premier league might be a weird lead-in to Notre Dame games. There would be an hour between them, I guess 30 mins for Prem post-game, then 30 mins for college pre-game.

Either that or moving the 12:30 game to NBCSN, which would at least keep all the games on the same channel.

edit - just looked it up, a little from column A, a little from column B

FYI, NBC is airing two Premier League related shows this afternoon. First is a one hour "club guide" which apparently will examine the history, tradition and support of each club. The second is a league preview show that will count down the ten biggest story lines of the upcoming season.

Might be worth a look to see how NBC is going to approach their coverage.

On one of the shows Brek Shea was said to be someone that could become "a poor man's Gareth Bale".

I can't fucking stand those commercials with the American football coach who supposedly now coaches Spurs and doesn't get the game.

I understand that they have to do some outreach/selling to new fans, but this approach sucks.

I think they're really trying to bridge the gap of people with a more refined knowledge of the game with the new generation coming in starting next weekend. Maybe they could pander a bit more to the former group of people but the executives aren't going to do that right away. Hopefully once the game starts they'll talk about the game in a way that caters to both groups of people because someone will complain either way. I think they'll figure it out but going from no EPL coverage to literally 100% is going to provide a learning curve of some sort.

Does anyone know how this Premier League Extra Time will operate? TWC in LA supposedly offers it, but I can't find any evidence of its existence. Will it be extra channels to air other games?

I know it's different than the mobile apps and web access, but that's all I know.

It depends on your provider. http://www.nbcsports.com/ExtraTime

I just got a message on my set top box that the Extra Time channels have been added to my lineup on RCN cable.

No Premier League Extra Time here on Cape Cod. Here's what shows up on the schedule once I plug in my zip code (02540) and provider (Comcast):

Barclays Premier League Extra Time is available in select XFINITY markets, with the remaining markets expected to be added by the end of the year. Go to On Demand/Sports & Fitness/Premier League to see if you receive the Extra Time package. All Barclays Premier League Games are available at NBC Sports Live Extra.

Predictably, the only EPL stuff available through "On Demand" is a bunch of team profiles.

Yeah, so... Not quite as awesome as advertised.

Apparently Fios decided not to take the free channels either. The crappy NBC Sports Extra app is the only option for Verizon customers.

Can't find the Extra Time on Verizon Fios either...anyone? I can watch them online, but I'd rather we had the TV option obviously.

EDIT: Wlll then, timely answer above me.

OK, this is irritating, I was watching Sunderland-Fulham, and it just kicked me back to the OnDemand menu.  When I try to go back to the game, it starts from the beginning again, with no way to fast-forward.

EDIT: Just figured out that the standard pause/fast-forward/rewind controls don't work, but the 5 minutes forward/back buttons do.  Was able to forward it to a few minutes before the point I got cut off, but can't get it all the way to live.

I was just going to complain about the same thing.  Seems to start from the beginning for the other on demand games too, with no way to get to the live point.

OK, got cut off at the same point again, just short of the 45 minute mark. Looks like they are still working the bugs out of this delivery system.

Separate choices for the second half of all the games just appeared in the OnDemand menu. All of the first half ones seem to have cut off the injury time.

Are all these games being commentated on tv monitors in 30 Rock? hated when ESPN did that

Arlo White calls all of his games on location. The rest of the broadcasts are produced by IMG, with I assume are on location as well.

I've been really impressed with NBC Sports coverage and crew doing these matches. Obviously, I love that I can watch any match online for free. I wonder if this will be free after this season or not. I'd actually pay for something like that if they decided to no longer provide that service next season.

Why not? I think charging for anything like that would mean including the NBC matches, which would entice people to cut the cord.

Looking at the TV schedule available to you guys in the USA in the EPL game thread got me thinking...

How much does it cost you to view those games, are they on pay TV like we have here on Sky and now BT, or are they free-to-air? I like the fact you can choose which game you want to watch whereas we are stuck with whatever the TV company want to show.

I haven't subscribed to Sky for a number of years now (I'd rather my hard-earned pounds went elsewhere) so I'm not sure of current costs but I know it's not cheap. Having said that, I've said for years that if a subscription to watch every Liverpool game live was available, I'd do it.

Seems like the overseas markets have better match availability for the EPL than we do at home, which is a little galling.

My cable package includes NBC (which is broadcast here, so obviously) and NBCSports.  So I pay nothing (other than my cable fee) to see these games, streaming or otherwise.  My cable provider is airing one game in each time slot on TV, the rest are streaming.

Channels other than HBO/Showtime etc, are not a la carte in the states, if you were wondering.

TV in the UK vs the US is really interesting.

We don't have anything like Freeview. You can get a handful of "over the air" channels for free but, like URI said, if you want to get more than that you have to buy a cable package. A package that includes NBCSN (which has a majority of the BPL matches) probably costs about $60 (or so?) depending on where you live but you get like 150+ channel with that.

When I lived in the UK it was really surprising to me that not every BPL match was available on TV and all of those that are available are on subscription TV channels that you have to pay for. A lot of major sporting events like the NFL, and now occasionally some BPL games on NBC, are on over the air channels that you can get for free.

Also, the whole TV license process still cracks me up. It seems so inefficient.

Of course, all the games are being streamed on the usual sites now, so everything is available to everyone with half a clue, making a mockery of the 3pm blackout rule and paying 40 quid a month for Sky in general.

The result of that has been the Prem scrabbling to get First Row Sports blocked by court injunction, and accidentally barring the Radio Times, Blackburn Rovers and a few others whilst proxies for the streams pop up immediately anyway. Awesome.

The streamed games on NBCSports Extra are a godsend.

Of course I'd rather they all be on my giant TV, but I will be in rural North Carolina next weekend, and I am absolutely giddy that I will be able to watch any football match I want all morning and early afternoon, followed by another 10 hours of college football.

Pumped and jacked.

I cared about the Sunderland march because of Jozy. USMNT players have been my gateway drug into the EPL.

EPL with NBC has been fantastic. It's becoming part of a nice Satuday morning routine.
