In case if anyone was wondering if this was worth watching, it's his usual schlock, focusing on daily minutiae and spending 5 minutes choosing his outfits in front of the camera, but the post-G5 celebration video starts at 30:55 and is a nice view of the postgame, trophy presentation, and locker room celebration. For a minute and a half, anyway.
“his usual schlock” how often are you watching brissys vlogs?

I've watched a few, usually when they're posted here. I like the behind-the-scenes stuff for plane flights and random scenes with his teammates. I will skip a lot of the other stuff that's incredibly boring to me.

Perk was definitely reported as not being invited around to celebratory stuff, for all the shitty things he's said about the Celtics the last few years, and not just via Scal:

The former star has since become a high-profile analyst on ESPN with a reputation for not holding back on criticism.

Perkins said Jayson Tatum “looked scared as hell” during a game in 2022.

He also referred to Mazzulla as a birdbrain in January and questioned the Celtics before the NBA Finals.
...But then Perk goes out and starts calling Scal "a coward" for daring to say that fact out loud.

If you want drama from the Celtics these days, you have to cook it up between players from a decade ago. That's how low-drama the current starters are.

I wonder if the team can tell Scal to cut the shit as it could with an employee. (Or if it wants him to cut it).

Eh, I don't know what Perk expects here. The Mazzulla comment was out of line. It's one thing to not have a filter, it's another thing to be disrespectful and basically call him stupid on national TV.

yeah I have no problem with Scal being a good-natured guy who is candid and won't sugarcoat things. The latter can be a problem if you're an asshole, but he's not.

Oh I don't have a big problem with him speaking his mind either. I'd be more likely to laugh off Perk publicly like "yeah that's Perk being Perk...what does he know?" and let the air out of the balloon, but it's not like Scal is doing anything wrong.

Perk was a star?

For those who haven't watched or didn't finish it, the end features a pretty moving tribute to prominent players who played in between the championships with a Mazzulla narration.
It is so well done. Bill Russell kicking off the episode was a great start and I loved the bits of perspective from Mazzulla's coaches, the Celtics bench and the support staff all the way to the team chef.

It really drove the message home that Mazzulla was meant to lead the Celtics. It was a boyhood dream of his to coach the team or at least that was what he said. I would guess during all of his hours of practice with his father in the Johnston gym he was more interested in playing for the Celtics rather than coaching them but being a part of a championship is without a doubt a dream come true.

Agree with you that the tribute to players of the past was a classy closing touch. Man I love this team and I miss watching them play. This season was special.

I wore mine today. Likely one of the few in Chicago. It's pretty sweet.
I agree. I like it's relative simplicity. The locker room hat, on the other hand, is hideous. But I "had to" get one to continue the tradition of hanging championship hats on my office wall since SB36.

I'm running out of room for ugly hats. A very pleasant problem to have.

The hat is terrible. It’s ugly and uncomfortable. I’ll also bought it for the tradition, but this is one I’ll probably never wear. Glad I waited a week and got it at 1/2 price.

That video was amazing, thanks for sharing.

Something I thought was funny, towards the end, was game 3 of the finals. I remembered Boston won the game but forgot that was the game where Luka fouled out. The video was showing a montage of Boston struggling and when Luka slid in front of Brown, within that context, it felt like it was a Brown offensive foul and my reaction was "Jesus Christ that's a terrible call."

In reality, it was a foul on Doncic and the video was using it as a turning point from Boston struggling to Boston winning.

And then I remembered that there were people upset at the call at the time, as if the call wasn't objectively correct. Seeing it a month later, without the context of that being his 6th foul, that was 100% a foul on Doncic and it would have been criminal for the refs to not call it.

The montage of haters and doubters a few minutes into this one was really well done, and it just kept on being really well done straight on through. I dunno who these guys are who made it, but it's a pretty talented effort.

Yeah this is incredible, thanks for posting. I'd already forgotten about how many in the media were critical of Boston during their playoff run to the finals, which seemed crazy at the time and clinically insane now. Boston was 12-2 in the EC playoffs, with a +10.07 point differential. They won blowouts, they won close games, they won against [some] opponents at full strength, they won while short-handed. The closest thing you could get to criticism was to note that opponents were missing their best player for a bunch of their games, but anyone with an ounce of curiosity could've noted that for the full year, the stars that missed time (Butler/Mitchell/Haliburton) were a combined 3-10 vs. Boston when they actually played. Boston was miles better than the rest of the conference for the entire year, in retrospect it wouldn't have mattered who did and didn't play in the East. Everyone in the media or neutral party wanted Boston to play Embiid or Giannis, as if either guy had a shot. One combined playoff series win over an opponent with 50 wins for those guys, in their entire careers. Tatum has six such victories.

Denver was the only potential finals opponent that had any kind of edge on Boston. Anyone acting like 50 win Dallas (who got hammered by Boston twice in the regular season) was somehow a much harder matchup than 47 win Indy (who played Boston relatively even in the regular season, including the IST playoff win) just wasn't thinking straight. Those breathless prognostications that Boston was going to run up against a battle tested WC foe and get punched in the mouth were just a bunch of bullshit.

Apologies if this was already posted somewhere, but here's 100 minutes of playoff greatness, produced by the NBA. Good amount of interviews and off-court footage, but on the lighter side in terms of actual game footage:

Edited to add: and weirdly, a lengthy segment about the 2008 team.

ESPN is running a series called “Clutch-The NBA Playoffs”. Lots of Kyrie pieces It seems. They are showing the sixth episode (I think) right now. The last two eps seem to deal with the Finals and they air next Sunday at 10 & 11 AM, at least here in PDT, on regular ESPN. Episode 7 is subtitled Behind the Game. 8 is Finally, hoping that really covers the Celtics with some new footage.

The Olympics stuff was interesting if a bit sour because of how it went for Tatum (but this video is not about that of course) but the Horford part was the best.

And yeah, in about five years some prospect will emerge from the DR with great raw skills and a killer whale mindset.

yeah the Horford part was very moving. I know they reported at the time that he had no idea he was going to get any sort of award, much less a bunch of them and meet the President of the DR... but it's funny to see the look on his face after he realized everything he just went through that day.

Willing to bet we can convince him to stick around an extra year, after sharing that sort of moment with Joe. :)
