He's old. Probably not going to be making much money. If a young guy shows some promise, I could see him getting cut too. Surprise veteran cuts are a yearly tradition in New England.Care to elaborate?
This. Love this signing to bolster an area that needs strengthening.Even outside of the J-E-T-E schadenfreude, I love this signing. Harris was always a player that I respected. Plus he addresses an area of concern on our team. This is a win-win-win.
The 2nd year is almost certainly a benefit to the Patriots, not to the player. Not that it makes a big difference in NFL, but weren't they all 1 year deals? This is a 2 year deal. Why sign a guy to a 2 year deal if he's just fodder?
I agree totally. Fits a need. Quality player.Fuck the Jets. This is a great signing for our team. Depth, potential 2-3 down player, can take the dot.
High and Harris will absolutely teach Elandon a few things.
the interior of the offensive line is a little iffy...LB was the only area on the roster where I thought the Pats might be a little thin. This helps cover that up. And it's got to be a kick in the nuts for Jets fans, which never loses its charm.
Score again.
What an offseason.
This is a two year deal and he clearly can continue to play and the Jets cut him based on salary and not poor play. I think both of those factors should be considered. Additionally, those players didn't make it on one year deals with the Pats but Long, Freeney, Lafell, Browner etc. all made it. There is a precedent for both.

I like the jib of your jibe. (Reportedly Mangold wants more $ than teams are willing to pay, however). What's Mangold got left in the tank?

Having Hightower and Harris on the field together in passing situations would be ... sub optimal. Unless they are using some variation of a zone blitz and dropping Ninkovich and letting Hightower rush, and even then they are sacrificing speed, mobility, and athleticism in coverage. The Patriots rotate so many defensive lineups during a game that I wouldn't think that Harris will be expected to play as much as he did with the Jets. Unless he's actually over the cliff, they'll use him to accentuate what he has left

Meh. The Jets don't even qualify for Friendster status. At best they're four clicks down a shitty GeoCities webring."As a man when I'm let go by MySpace despite stellar performance I'd rather never work at all than accept Facebook's job offer."
