The tickets for the Frankfurt game went on sale 90 minutes ago. You had to preregister and then got sent a code with which you could take your place in queue. This was my spot:
67259
But I needed wheelchair tickets so I had to call the hotline, got through, and then they didn't understand me so they hung up. I called the second time and only got through at about 1 o'clock, an hour after the ticket sale started. Fortunately there were still some wheelchair tickets available so I snagged one that includes one companion for the very reasonable price of €105. Still needed the code from the pre-registration to get them.

So health permitting I will be going to my first Patriots game on November 12.

To say that I am excited is an understatement.

The hype and interest for (American) Football is still very much on the rise in Germany. I think they could have sold > 1 million tickets for the games in Frankfurt.

I've watched my first games of the "new" ELF (European League of Football, currently in it's 3rd season) recently and it was really a good product.
Now obviously the level of play is nowhere near the NFL (or College Football or CFL) and it's still in the air if the financing will work out longterm for the league/teams, but the games by my hometown team regularly draw 3-4k fans, are somewhat on TV and the play on the field is profesionell and enjoyable.
I will certainly watch some more games this summer!

This is cool. The team names are a great mix of legacy WLAF/NFL Europe classics and somewhat eclectic new ones. Not a GFC (“Gridiron Football Club”) in the bunch, though. Typical Amero-snob fans must prefer franchise-style “City+Mascot” team names. Enthroners vs. Seamen!

Wait, 2.7 million were ahead of you?
Yeah, for the online ticket sales. You were given a code in advance to join a waiting room, and then spots in the queue were assigned at random to everyone in that waiting room at the start of the sale. So if I had needed normal tickets I would've been SOL.

Was 48,000 in line, but did not get in, not surprised but disappointed.

FWIW, I'm the lead English play-by-play commentator on the ELF. (I've commentated on both of the first two championship games, for example, and I call games on Saturday and Sunday most weekends - e.g., this Saturday I'm calling Barcelona v Tirol, and on Sunday it's Paris v Rhein.) Glad to hear you're enjoying the product!

If anyone is looking for a place to stay, there is a hotel about 100 meters from the stadium called the Lindner Hotel Frankfurth Sportspark. It is also two stops on the s-bahn from FRA.

I know nothing about the hotel. What I do know is that in the last week, Hyatt added Lindner hotels to its portfolio, and so Lindner hotels are now bookable with Hyatt points. Some of them are incredible values. This hotel is a Hyatt category 1. Better yet, apparently nobody has thought to block off points bookings for big events at the arena. So even though this hotel is selling for about 300 euros a night during the game weekend, it can be booked for 3500 Hyatt points. You can actually buy Hyatt points for 2 cents a point if you don't have any.

Again, I know nothing about this hotel. Staying in town would be more fun. But for like $70 a night, you can be walking distance to the stadium. Cancellation policy is also one day prior to the stay. It's clearly a mistake and I suppose there's some chance they would cancel the booking, but Hyatt generally doesn't roll like that.

unfortunately it looks like Leipzig are the first team to run out of money:
https://www.sportschau.de/regional/mdr/mdr-leipzig-kings-stellen-spielbetrieb-ein--enttaeuschung-auch-beim-1-fc-lok-100.html (article in German)

They needed about 550k Euros they could not secure in time, so now the league is down one team at least for the current season and the players are free agents.

Anyone else heading to the game? There were dueling threads about it, but if I have it right it looks like @JohnnyK, @PortlandSoxFan, and @Boston Brawler may all be in attendance.

We'll be arriving in Frankfurt Saturday morning. If there's interest, it'd be nice to meet up a mini SoSH bash either Saturday evening or pre game outside of the stadiumn.

I’m pretty glad I didn’t jump on the chance to watch this tire fire in Deutschland.
I plan on consuming an inordinate amount pork knuckle, spaetzle, and schnitzel all washed down with enough gluehwein to make me forget that I decided this was a good idea.

@PortlandSoxFan I’ll shoot you a PM. Let’s plan on meeting up before the game. From what I saw this week they have a huge beer garden set up just outside the stadium.

Three of us will be commuting down from Dusseldorf for the game, tyre fire though it may well be. After 20 years this will be my first time seeing the Patriots so the fact were not watching two great teams is kind of secondary. Also, we leave Dusseldorf at 9 am and will be drinking the whole way to our seats so maybe the quality on display will not matter quite so much. I do have a bad habit of seeing New England teams in a down year though - my only time at Fenway was in 2012.

To those travelling from the States, Frankfurt is a bit of a meh city unless youre a banker but if you find yourself somewhere to eat stodgy food and drink apfelwein youll be fine. If youre bored on the Saturday you can always take a short trip to Mainz which is a bit more historic (Roman ruins etc) but I understand you might be a bit fecked from the travel and not want to leave Frankfurt. As I say, if youre bored, a brewery is always your friend.

I appreciate the offer, but the whole weekend is already astretch for me healthwise, so I will probably just hang out with my friend and relax, I'm sure you guys understand.

But here is the rub: I currently cannot access my Ticketmaster account. I already tried resetting my password multiple times (the insane thing with that process is that Ticketmaster does not send you a link to reset it, they send you a temporary password in a plaintext mail), called customer support multiple times, wrote multiple emails to second level customer support as first level could not help me (while at least confirming that my account is active and the tickets are there), and I'm starting to lose hope that I will get my tickets in time. I never got them by email, so my only option is being able to login in the Ticketmaster app or the website.

That’s a solid plan.

Ah, the lost Sex Pistols album.
Ok that was pretty good.

Stupid question, but you are using the Ticketmaster.de site, right? I supposedly have my accounts linked but can only see my tickets when I sign in to the German version.

I can see my tickets in the ticketmaster.de website, but I cannot install the app. I assume I'll be able to install the Ticketmaster.de app once I get to Frankfurt? I don't think my accounts are linked, I think I had to create a totally different one for the German site.

At least on Android there is no separate app for different countries; you select your country before logging in.

I don't see that option. I logged out of the Android app, cleared all data, and there is nowhere to pick a country. I know when I bought the tickets I had to create a separate Ticketmaster account, I don't see a way to link them.

And your story has me definitely not changing any passwords just yet...I can see my tickets in a mobile browser and that's good enough for now. I'd rather save the tickets to my Google Wallet like I usually do for events.

We powered through yesterday without sleep and woke up at 7 AM local time raring to go. Will be doing a few touristy things today.

We've seen literally 2 Colts fans. There were 5 times that many Pats fans on my flight out of JFK. I'd gather we've seen at least 50 or so thus far (and those are only the Pats fans wearing gear)

side note: I could NOT install the international Ticketmaster app once I got to Germany, so I'm going with a downloaded PDF I suppose

Patriots apparently with a chance to make history on Sunday as they would be the first team to 4 wins in International play. I didn't know they have played 3 other international games.

Mexico and London (big bang clock) twice I believe.

Winning would probably make them the first team to win games in 4 different countries?

Vienna Vikings is a little weird. Alliteration, fine, but it's strange that a city that, as far as I know, the Vikings never reached in their raids and otherwise have no historical connection to, would use them as a team name/ mascot. Especially for a league that you assume would hope to eventually expand into the actual region Vikings came from.

2003 Pats-Colts on NFL Network. Oh my god do I miss Brady. Just hit Dedric Ward in stride to go up 17-0.

Bobby Hamilton runs into the kicker on 4th and 1. This team is poorly coached.
