Patriots Comings and Goings

Comings:
- WR Gibson

Goings:
- DT Wilfork (could be back)
- CB Revis
- CB Browner (could be back)
- RB Vereen
- WR Tyms
- WR Orton
- LB Casillas

That's a LOT of talent gone, and very little coming back so far.  Obviously the Patriots will fill holes with the $$ they suddenly have available, so the "Comings" group will increase.
But still, yikes.  That ledger is mighty unbalanced at the moment.

I live in NJ, halfway between Philly and NYC. What do you think the Eagles fans think?

Add to the GONE:
- LB Casillas (Giants, 3 yr, $10.5M - per Reiss)

I think you mean Vereen here?

Nope, they also signed Casillas to a big contract (at least for a guy who was on the scrap heap halfway through the season).

The Pats rarely strike early in free agency, and it usually doesn't make sense to. Let other teams lnow their load, get value, and build through the draft. Teams that win now don't win when it matters.

As long as there is talent still available.

That Casillas deal is fucking stupid. The guy is a ST and below average back up. Free agency brings out the idiot in some GMs.

Damn you. I was starting a "DO THE WHITE THING" thread, although I figured it might be misinterpreted.
Belichick had to personally call White to keep him from Chip Kelly

In the silver linings department, at least as things stand now, they should have a third and sixth rounder compensatory pick coming back.

In 2016 for Revis/Cassilas/Vereen or this year for Talib, etc?

Talib will bring a 3rd this year. Revis will bring a 3rd next year and Vereen will bring a pick back. I don't see a pick for Casillas but I could be wrong.

Over the cap is currently projecting a third for Revis, a sixth for Vereen and a sixth for Casillas. http://overthecap.com/compensatory-draft-picks-cancellation-chart/ I am guessing one of the sixth rounders gets cancelled out soon by a Patriots signing. Browner and Wilfork could also bring picks in the 4th or 5th round, but I'm guessing those guys will either be back with the Patriots or the picks will be cancelled out by FA signings of similarly valued guys.
