interesting, I see they tried to trade him at one point, but my recollection is that it wasn't a major sticking point in why he left, which was far more about $ and role.

I believe those things came up becomes of the trade rumors—he wanted certainty/clarity and they wouldn’t provide it.interesting, I see they tried to trade him at one point, but my recollection is that it wasn't a major sticking point in why he left, which was far more about $ and role.
That tracks. And I would bet Mitchell is a Knick by Monday if Tony Jones is correctTony Jones said a source told him that Danny's ask was:
6 of the 8 picks, Grimes, Quickly, Toppin, McBride.... and that they Jazz don't want Barrett.
Unfortunately, it's going to be two years of this since it doesn't make sense for Jaylen to sign an extension before becoming a free agent (unless he makes all-NBA next year)Yeah, I've been seeing a few stories like this, and some mention Jaylen feeling disrespected by Boston fans, or not wanting to play in Tatum's shadow. I'd take it cum grano salis for now. Look at it this way: Brad just brought in Brogdon, and he and Jaylen are supposed to be buds, plus Brogdon gives them an even better chance of winning a title. I think it's just sportswriters looking for things to write about, like how they spin endless fake trades during dry news spells.
This is correct.Unfortunately, it's going to be two years of this since it doesn't make sense for Jaylen to sign an extension before becoming a free agent (unless he makes all-NBA next year)
It's going to replace the, can Jaylen and Tatum play together, should they be broken up???, as the lazy story du jour.
I don't doubt the guy.I look forward to hearing about this story some more
Well that's one defense of Cleveland.I guess it's possible, sure. But having a beer thrown on you, and having shirts that say F*** LeBron doesn't equal racism.
I mean, it's not a coincidence that a number of players across multiple sports say that BOS is one of the places where they have the most racist stuff said to them (along with SLC, OKC). I get it, some of the rep isn't totally deserved, but pretending that it doesn't happen is being naive.I guess it's possible, sure. But having a beer thrown on you, and having shirts that say F*** LeBron doesn't equal racism.
I wasn't pretending anything. Just that the examples LeBron used weren't really indicative of racism. Just fans being obnoxious. He made no mention in that little clip of the N word being used or whatever.I mean, it's not a coincidence that a number of players across multiple sports say that BOS is one of the places where they have the most racist stuff said to them (along with SLC, OKC). Same thing happened to an opposing player in Philly in last season's playoffs, but somehow that wasn't considered racist.I wasn't pretending anything. If Harden struggles this year, "sip of wine" is going to become my favorite euphemism ever.C'mon, James is moving from tequila to wine. Kind of unreasonable to ask a man to sacrifice more than that.
Worse yet he's clearly counting on FSG to be the money behind his Las Vegas NBA team.Is there going to be a Red Sox issue with LeBron? Seems sort of odd to be a minority owner of a team and call the fans racist from 3000 miles away.
It is pretty much the same fans.
Calling a whole fanbase racist because of the actions of a pretty darn small minority is very obnoxious. That's like saying all NBA players are anti-vaxxers because of the actions of Kyrie Irving. That's a pretty serious allegation that requires some actual evidence, in my opinion.I mean, it's not a coincidence that a number of players across multiple sports say that BOS is one of the places where they have the most racist stuff said to them (along with SLC, OKC). These questions are interesting both because it’s impossible to speak for other people’s experience and, when you look at them from your own lens, it’s hard to compare a place you lived most of your life to other places. I’m white but I grew up in the city and was in and around places like South and East Boston enough to hear plenty of racist crap, especially behind closed doors. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if that got unleashed against black athletes on occasion, but also have no idea how that compares to other cities, as outside of Boston I’ve spent most my life abroad and in Hawaii. Are white fans in Phillie and NY really less racist? I have no idea but if LeBron says so I’d have to trust him as he clearly has more experience dealing with the fans of different regions. That said, I do hope he’s differentiating between fan vitriol and racism because as someone like Bill Laimbeer can attest to that is not always correlated.I mean, it's not a coincidence that a number of players across multiple sports say that BOS is one of the places where they have the most racist stuff said to them (along with SLC, OKC). Lebron does do some awesome things for charity in his hometown, but he's pretty much a clown. He won't speak out against China, but will lob grenades at Boston fans. And he posts things like this on his IG, like it's a big dealI wasn't pretending anything. Just that the examples LeBron used weren't really indicative of racism. Just fans being obnoxious. He made no mention in that little clip of the N word being used or whatever.
I think this is a fair criticism. Lebron actually laughs at the question posed (as if it were a point of fact). It's not to say that Lebron–as a black man who's been to Boston over years of time--doesn't hold legitimate weight; it's that he doesn't give even one example of racism he's experienced. It's not clear whether he didn't think it was the right time to take a deep dive, or whether he could only come up with superficial reasons, or if he was falling back on stereotypes, but it would have been more powerful to hear a personal experience he had confronted. He doesn't owe us that, but it would have felt more genuine.I guess it's possible, sure. But having a beer thrown on you, and having shirts that say F*** LeBron doesn't equal racism.
I agree with this. And I am not one to reflexively defend the honor of the olde towne anytime this topic comes up, Boston owns its past, and its present, to whatever degree it still applies. But hot take/click bait comments like “ Boston fans(which implies all) are racist as fuck” are all heat, no light. And do little to further any meaningful discourse on the topic, and serve rather as just another loud noise in an ocean of outrage culture.I think this is a fair criticism. A commitment that Lebron is actively working against behind the scenes. That must have been an awkward call. Think Russ bought it?Haha, like they have a choice at this point? Big scoop, Chris!

It’s like post-trade deadline last season when all the reporters said that they elected not to make any trades. Ignoring the fact that the rest of the league had no interest in their smorgasbord of suckHaha, like they have a choice at this point? Big scoop, Chris!

The league has a fair amount of interests in their unprotected firsts in 27 and/or 29. By all accounts the Lakers were not willing to put those on the table at the deadline which was the correct calculus give the team's prospects. It’s like post-trade deadline last season when all the reporters said that they elected not to make any trades. Well, if he wanted to share, that would be a retweet. Here, he liked it. Could be nothing, I guess, but just showing support for a friend doesn't seem right here since it's an ESPN story, not something posted on Wiggins' personal account. So, Jaylen Brown liked the Wiggins story? Sometimes its confusing what people mean with these social media feeds. Is he just sharing it because Wiggins is his friend, or does Brown actually think what Wiggins is saying is.....not dumb?
Is this from his unauthorized bio?Being Kyrie isn't about holding certain positions. It's about complete self-absorption and narcissism while holding those positions.
Actually smart. Went to Cal partly because they allowed him to take higher level college courses a freshman normally wouldn’t be able to take. Has given lectures at MIT and Harvard.I know Jaylen is considered to be highly intelligent….. but is he “Kyrie smart” or actually smart?
Here's a talk he gave - you might be able to judge for yourself. Not many NBA players discussing Foucault.I know Jaylen is considered to be highly intelligent….. but is he “Kyrie smart” or actually smart?
Part of the issue being that “biggest” in both cases refers to players who are 6’-1”.The Knicks may have signed the biggest free agent (excluding players that re-signed with their current team) and may end up with the biggest trade acquisition, and still end up finishing dead last in their own division. That speaks to the strength of Atlantic Division as much as it does to the competency of the Knicks, but it still noteworthy.
Think they'd rather have Grimes than Barrett, who they'd have to pay. What do we thing a “haul” would be? Assuming just a shit ton of those picks plus maybe Barrett/Toppin?
