Oh he's staying. They will trade him at the deadline.Best to lock in that final year's salary ASAP before putting him on the trading block.
Maybe they will be decent next year? Better run differential than our beloved Sox!Oh he's staying. They will trade him at the deadline.
Unlikely but at least they will sell a ton of tickets and advertising.Maybe they will be decent next year? Better run differential than our beloved Sox!
I saw this and immediately thought it was ridiculous. Then I looked at what their salary commitments were for next year.Judge to LAD and Mookie to 2B?

Probably simpler to non-tender Cody B and play one in RF and one in CF, no?I saw this and immediately thought it was ridiculous. Then I looked at what their salary commitments were for next year.
Yeah, I would personally not want to risk my $300M+ investment at 2B. Even with the rule changes in the last couple of years, second base still feels like no country for old men.Probably simpler to non-tender Cody B and play one in RF and one in CF, no?
Plus Machado (too soon) in the same division, although that’s lessened a bit with the new schedule.Yeah, I would personally not want to risk my $300M+ investment at 2B. Even with the rule changes in the last couple of years, second base still feels like no country for old men.
Joel Sherman thinks Astros might be a possibility. Seems strange that a team going to back to back World Series isn't enough to secure a job, but I guess when you consider the circumstances Click was put into the job, maybe there's never been confidence in him and ownership sees the team success as a result of the previous GM?A surprise: Brewers president stepping down. Mets? They were rumored to want him badly.

Not all that surprising. He's opting into 5/149M. Even coming off a really good season like he is (career high OPS+), I don't know that he's going to find better than that on the free agent market entering his age 32 season.Katie Woo

NEWS: Nolan Arenado has informed the #STLCards he will be opting in to the remainder of his five-year contract, a source told The Athletic.
Also he seemed pretty certain about Rays staying put.Manfred all but told Mad Dog that the A's are headed to Vegas. I'm glad Oakland is too smart to give a billionaire millions of dollars to build a stadium, but what a kick in the balls to go from three professional sports teams to zero in a few years.

Walker is moving to outfield. He has already played some out there. They would be crazy to move him. They are going to get an absolute haul for Jordan Walker.
It's the first year for Utility players, I think. It's a small but awesome change.I didn’t realize they gave utility players Gold Gloves.
Good for those two
And great for Mookie, # 6 for him
No Red Sox won.
Like Cy Young, MVP, Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year?Is it just my faulty memory or did they really
used to announce the MLB awards during the World Series? Seems they’re getting announced Nov 14-17
Finalists announced Nov 7
If he was so awesome…. How come the Dodgers haven’t won anything since ‘20???
Maybe, they have other directions they can go also. But seriously…. The Dodgers will just resign him, yeah?
The Giants must really like him and feel that the alternatives to replace him aren't attractive. He did hit really well this year (144 OPS+). His WAR takes a hit because of abysmal defense. Maybe they think he can DH more?Joc Pederson, wow. He has 0.9 total bWAR from 2020-22 in over 1000 PAs, feels like he’d be crazy to not accept that.
Yes. He always seemed to get a big hit against the Red Sox.Ji-Man Choi being traded to Pittsburgh is one of the best things to happen to the Red Sox this off-season.
Feel like the Sox should be all over him at that price. It only takes one team, but I don't think Willson Contreras is going to get the money people are predicting (this looks like a very well-done piece at first glance, they have him at 4/84). I say under $50M, maybe 3/42 or 3/45.
None of them have Xander going back to Boston. Dodgers, Twins or Mariners.
One their guessers has like 5-6 free agents going to BostonNone of them have Xander going back to Boston. Dodgers, Twins or Mariners.
Yeah, Darragh McDonald has Ottavino and Benintendi going back. One their guessers has like 5-6 free agents going to Boston
