Get out of that unscathed with proper positioning by the manager.
Unscathed? He walked home a run and booted a grounder hit right to him.

I mean, Vogelsong isn't exactly a right handed Kershaw, er, a Jake Peavy?
Every National has spit the bit at the plate except Rendon.

Harper's OPSing .850.
He has two impressive bombs and two very nice fielding plays.

Those bombs were solos. Unless he picks it up and Werth stops trying to work the perfect walk, they likely are screwed.

I'm sick of them being in the postseason but they (Cardinals management) did still let people in without a ticket when the Red Sox won it all in 2004. They get a lot of leeway for that, in my mind.

A little hard to blame him for that.

Yeah, Ernie Johnson, you fucking idiot.  Tim Hudson's been involved in sooooo many historic moments.

Remember the time his team lost to the yankees and that other time they lost to the yankees and then that time they lost to the twins followed by the time they lost to the Red Sox and those losses with the braves?

So, so many historic moments.  Truly, he's unusually qualified to tell the world who has what it takes to win in the postseason.

Man, you'd make a perfect Red Sox fan.

I am. But seriously, entering last game Harper was 6 for 37 in postseason games. He has fielded well, run the bases well, but he's supposed to be Mickey fucking Mantle. He has to step it up and Werth too.

Werth refuses to swing unless it's thigh high and right down the middle.

From my driveway, 9 miles due east and 1250 feet above sea level, I can see into the Giant's ballpark. Unfortunately, owing to the curvature of the earth, I can only see down to the box seats.

Tonight I can't even do that, enough haze in the marine layer to obscure the view.
gp, if you turn your telescope south are you able to see this?

Nats getting a bead on Vogelsong - hope he stays in long enough to give up a couple more runs now

That's a start.

By the way, I've always thought Harper was a pretty patient hitter and the Vasgergian gave no numbers to convince me otherwise.  Where can I get his P/PA numbers?

Bochy is no fool. Someone up in the pen. Wants no part of Jordan Zimmerman in game 5

That is sweet. Familiarity with such scientific things obviously disqualifies you from working for certain mlb organizations, though.

Thanks. It's in a newer, even slimmer incarnation now, and I control it with my iPhone. Perhaps I should tell the MLB execs it's a Death Ray to improve my negotiating position.

So, you're a Sox fan originally and now Nats also because of where you live? My situation here, except Giants local for me now.

Your boy came through there.

Yes. Root for all Boston teams, but Nats easy to root for, esp given sorry history of baseball in DC.

My dream WS now is Nats sweep of the hated Orioles.

Then the Dodgers would hire you, but Mattingly would not bother to plug in the death ray for the big games

Not moving Harper to 3rd when he was at 2nd with 0 outs is unforgiveable in these circumstances
