Hey Aaron tell your D and Coaches to cover the crossing routes and maybe you'll get the ball back.

Why the fuck would you field that ball at all?

The cousin of the pointless end-of-half handoff.
Can't advance a muff, so it's pretty safe I think.

Simply a matter of time before the rolled-up magazine wins.

For a defense, Manning's throws must seem like lethargic flies buzzing around on a cold day. Should be easy to swat down. But aren't

We had the same discussion about Tomlin a few weeks ago.  Others who show up:  Weeb Ewbanks; some guy who won one of the first couple SBs; some argue for Shanahan.   Dungy gets mentioned.  And of course, Barry Switzer who I think really is the worst.

Switzer's a good pull and almost certainly the correct answer.

Is Mike McCarthy the worst head coach to win a Super Bowl? He has to be up there.
Doesn't this discussion begin and end with Barry Switzer?

Edit:Too slow, took me that long to remember his damned name.

Don McCafferty is my choice.

Of course he died a few years after so it's not really fair.

Don McCafferty was the random guy in there early on---went 21-6 and won SB during first two seasons (following Shula), then 7-11 in next season and a part and that was it for him (passed away early).  Hard to know what that really means

Ewbanks is underrated. Won 2 NFL titles with Colts before winning in SB III. Gruden might belong up there as well. His TB run was very inconsistent.

Chuckie also stuck around to grace us with his commentary. At least Switzer had the good grace to fuck off when it was over.

On Sanders?

The ball was tipped.

No helmet-to-helmet rule on tipped balls?   Huh.
Would seem to go against the intent of the rule -- receivers are quite vulnerable when looking around for a tipped ball.

He made such a half assed attempt at getting the fumble back the refs never noticed he actually fumbled it.

He never lost it all the way. He has it pinned to his body with one hand the whole way down. It was clearly in his control when he hit the ground.

I don't think it was clear at all, but whatever.

I thought after that O-Lineman went blind in one eye they stopped throwing penalty flags directly at the players who commit the penalty.  That flag was dangerously close to landing under Rodgers' landing foot.
