So wait? How bad did Oakland lose? I stopped checking cuz everyone said it was over at 6-0.

Ha ha.

So, even if the Pats lose tonight they still control their destiny for a bye (because Cincy plays Denver). Nice.

Um, matter of the one game that's left today. Announcer (Eagle?) just said if the Pats win tonight they get HFA throughout the playoffs. Holee shit!
Not really since the season isn't over, but they're back in #1 seed.

Considering Denver has looked like shit in 75% of their games, and we fumbled away our game to them, they still don't scare me much.

No, I saw the final score and the box score showed them going for two, up three points. No Red Zone here and i hadn't been following this thread
Lol, it's just that you summarized about 5 pages of posts in your two.
-Yes long snapper was hurt and yes it seems they have no backup.

I just reviewed the clinching scenarios and realized that if we win tonight we only clinch the AFC East if Miami loses tomorrow. That's because we need the strength of victory over the Jets. Tie breakers make my head hurt.

Happiest person in America not on the Pats or a Patriots fan?

Peyton Manning.
Agreed.

Here's a fun "what if."

If Denver loses in Pittsburgh next week, they could realistically lose the division. KC could well win out (vs Bal, Cle & Oak). If that happened, Denver needs to beat Cincy in that showdown or they're a wild card.

I get that you can only play whatever teams the league schedules you into. But man have the Pats had a lucky out of division schedule this year. You can argue the AFC South and NFC East are the two worst divisions in the NFL. Contrast that to next year, when the Pats have the NFC West and AFC North. They could realistically have to visit Arizona, Denver, and Pittsburgh. Then they'll see Seattle and Baltimore visit Gillette.

Not sure I have a point. Pisses me off more with the Eagles loss last week....they should have killed those guys.

Yeah, no kidding. He can continue to ignore Peyton's performance this year all he wants but it won't change the fact that Denver has a better chance to win with Brock.

Hat and t shirt game tonight!

But that means rooting for Eli and co to take a step closer to the playoffs...

But on the other hand, it's rooting against the Dolphins...

I think I'll skip this one altogether.

The Patriots clinch with a Giants win because of SIX tiebreak levels? This is the weirdest thing.

So, if a Miami loss truly clinches the division, the Playoff Machine is not infallible.

Running certain scenarios with a Giants win along with the NYJ winning out and the Patriots losing out gives the division to the Jets, relegating the Pats to the 5 seed.

There's even a way - according to the machine - to get the Jets a bye, though that relies on a HOU-TEN tie and an PIT-BAL tie (among other assumptions).

I will bite... So that OBJ play was a "catch" but the White play was overturned and called a "no catch" because?

I guess that hit on Eli by Jordan Phillips was sorta dumb, but the breathless way Gruden was describing it - "he should be ejected from the game" - had me picturing something heinous. That was NOT a big deal.

Right, and you can't tell if he means he doesn't like guys TAKING those penalties or officials CALLING those penalties. So weird. I almost wondered if it should've been called at all - it should have, but for Gruden to say it merited ejection?!

This game is everything that is pathetic about the Dolphins. One of the most idiotic penalties in history on Landry. If Campbell were any kind of coach, he would bench Landry for the night.

How many coaches would bench their best player with their season hanging by a thread? Also a coach that maybe wants to be taken on next year.
