He would be an enormous upgrade for the Vikes or Dolphins if he's healthy. I don't think the Colts get a first, but if the injury was just an excuse to get out of Colts camp, I think there's 2-4 teams for whom he's worth a 2nd and change maybe.
Yeah, not a whole lot of landing spots. This is a move for a team that has a legit chance at a SB so that likely takes away rebuilding teams like TB, New Orleans, Arizona, etc. Would the Bears be interested? He makes a lot of sense for them as a running team but doubt they'd give up a potential high first for him. I could see a team like the Vikings, Dolphins, or Bills caving and giving up a first. But, most likely, I'd bet on a 2nd and maybe a later pick. The RB values are just so depressed. He would be an enormous upgrade for the Vikes or Dolphins if he's healthy. I wouldn't count out the Bengals. Mixon is in the last year of his deal and he's been running out of steam as a workhorse back. Pretty sure they're still sitting on some cap space too.Colts have changed course on Jonathan Taylor. Seeking first round pick. Not sure anyone is ponying up one given how de-valued the position is. Would expect teams like the Dolphins and Bills to potentially be interested. Other teams like the Cowboys might view it as a reasonable GFIN move, similar to SF with McCaffrey. A Taylor/Pollard combo would be a nightmare for defenses.
They're not parting with picks and the cap space needs to be saved for extensions, including a particularly notable one. They could certainly use an upgrade, but they committed to Mixon when they agreed to a lower cap number and have young guys behind him fighting for time. I'd say the chances are between slim and none and I'm pretty sure slim just left the building.I wouldn't count out the Bengals. Yup. Seems like the Saquon situation. We’ll give you a little extra to keep you happy but no dice on long term deal at similar levels. There is no suggestion in the initial reports that the Raiders agreed not to tag him again. So, he got almost a couple million more out of his holdout. Tough times for RB.
RBs are in a tough spot. Jacobs can't take the year off, can't sit at home and not make the 11-12 million. But he also isn't getting a 4 year, 60 million dollar deal, either. If he plays well, he will get franchised again.Yup. Seems like the Saquon situation. We’ll give you a little extra to keep you happy but no dice on long term deal at similar levels.
100%. They just have to take the best deal they can get and hope they don’t get hurt. But even if they don’t, the physical toll and ease of replacement kills them.RBs are in a tough spot. At this point, my view is that no team should be able to franchise a player two years in a row. The franchise tag is punishing RBs.
The tag is the average of the top 5 salaries. If you get tagged a 2nd time, you get a 20% raise guaranteed, or the average of the top 5 contracts, whichever is higher.I thought the tag was the average of Top 5 of all of Football if you got tagged a second time. Might not be the case anymore. That would certinately fix the issue since nobody is paying a running back $30 million.
Top 5 of your position first year and 120% of that number if tagged a second time (I think). That's why Jimmy Graham fought being classified as a TE. Yeah, this makes no sense unless he truly isn't ready to play. Hard to know with this franchise. It seems odd to me to not at least activate him off PUP. One would think the trade value of him being available before week 5 is of greater benefit to the team than whoever will be the 53rd player onto the roster now.
Supposedly want to bring him back to the PS. Probably going to clear waivers, he was a 3rd round pick who missed his entire rookie year.Guess the Pats weren't the only ones who disliked their recent draft pick backup QB...but at least the Pats got Mapu out of the deal

Time to learn how to punt i guess
I got drinks one time with a guy who had been in camp with the Carolina Panthers as a punter when they had all pro (and all PED) Todd Sauerbrun punting for them.Time to learn how to punt i guess
Chris Kluwe spoke about punting mechanics quite a bit when he was given endless "why can't punters also kick FGs and teams could save a roster spot?" questions. Really interesting analysis on the skills and muscles needed for punting.I got drinks one time with a guy who had been in camp with the Carolina Panthers as a punter when they had all pro (and all PED) Todd Sauerbrun punting for them.
It was a fascinating conversation because it’s all about perfectly repeating the same mechanics every snap. Which is why he told me even the slightest injury would wreck a punter’s mechanics and career. Which happened to him and ultimately, Sauerbrun.
I wonder if that is what happened to Jake Bailey.I got drinks one time with a guy who had been in camp with the Carolina Panthers as a punter when they had all pro (and all PED) Todd Sauerbrun punting for them.

TIL, Bailey made the Dolphins. Interesting to see if he bounces back.I wonder if that is what happened to Jake Bailey.
Dolphins seem to think he will. Got roughly 1.1 million of his contract guaranteed and the 18th richest punter contract in the league. I just can't see it. But as much as I hate the Dolphins I hope he succeeds in bouncing back. Always seemed like a good kid.TIL, Bailey made the Dolphins. Interesting to see if he bounces back.
I hope he gets lots of in-game opportunities to show his punting abilities.Dolphins seem to think he will. These guys remain great at comedy.
Also, Brady?!

Didn't used to be like this for Twitter. Once it changed to X it's all screwed upTo me this just shows as a link, not the tweet itself. If you put (media)TWEET(/media) around the link it shows up readable--replacing the ( ) with [ ]
I think SoSH has to change some things behind the scenes to recognize the new links.Didn't used to be like this for Twitter. Once it changed to X it's all screwed up
Now let's see how quickly KC gets Jones signed. One holdout is over and one team gave in.
