Lebron is soooooo good.  Fun to watch.
It's a shame some fans can't appreciate this player. On the court approaching GOAT status and off the court never been in trouble, impregnated multiple women, or been a party party guy.

He's more than made up for The Decision fiasco that his people took a big hit for.

is it just me or was Wade dogshit today? I know Ginobili has already been mentioned. This really is a throwback to last year's finals.
I think it's much more than this. He simply wasn't mobile out there today and called out of the game in the second quarter right after a timeout.

His knees are at a place where he probably shouldn't even be out there. I wouldn't be surprised if he announced his retirement following this Championship......I honestly feel that his knees are in that bad of shape.

He's making 42 million dollars the next two years. I think he'll stick around.

Edit - He could opt out now, but I'm betting against that...

If you're Lebron the move is to opt in to next year's deal and then see where Wade is after next season before making a move right?  No need to opt out and sign a longer term deal to stay when you have no idea the future of Wade.

I believe his contract is insured although I'm not certain as to where the severity of his injuries were first diagnosed.

There is precedent for players to walk away from money. Rasheed Wallace walked away from $13m because he could no longer physically prepare to play the game and Ryan Dempster did the same this year for family reasons.

It's possible, but I would say the overwhelming majority of athletes/people would take the money. It's a massive amount, nearly 40% of his contract.

I'm not positive, and not an expert, but I think insurance generally covers single-event catastrophic injuries. My guess is that he sticks around and LeBron bolts for Cleveland. Bosh is a really interesting case. He's also owed 42 million the next two years, but can opt out now. Maybe he'll follow LBJ again?

The NBA has a league wide policy that protects the teams against injuries that prevent each teams designated top-5 players should they be unable to play due to a non pre-existing injury. I don't believe it has to be a single event. If Wade is deemed incapable of competing due to the deteriorated conditions of his knees he will still get paid.

Off-topic, but this documentary on NBA TV right now on the 1984 NBA draft is great. They talk about the HOF's, but also go in depth with lesser-known guys, like Oscar Schmidt.

Wasn't the reason the three of them ended up in Miami in the first place that Lebron tried to convince Bosh to join him in Cleveland, but Bosh didn't want to because Cleveland?

Bosh was a FA and a deal was in place for him to come to Cleveland in a sign-n-trade in exchange for Varejao, Delonte and others......led by LeBron's recruitment. He is a club and party guy so obviously this wasn't the best fit for his lifestyle.

Also the refs were terrible all-around in that game, which led to more flopping by everyone.

Geez. I don't think I've seen one post from you in months and months saying anything even semi-critical of the Heat. Have they leapt over the Horncats as your second favorite team?

Duncan and Manu did precisely the same as Wade in that game. Manu they probably just laugh at now but Timmeh's was no different than Wade's on the LeBron foul.

The minute we became irrelevant possibly. They have been a juggernaut and have the soon to be recognized GOAT........I appreciate greatness. Too many basketball fans (and sports fans in general) spend so much time on focusing on negativity that they miss out on appreciating what they are witnessing. If I were a Kansas City Chief fan I'm certain I'd feel the same about the Patriots as I do about the Heat.

Pat Riley, as much as I loathe him, gets credit where credit is due......as does Spoelstra for earning the respect of LeBron, Wade and Bosh.

You mean that Manu play at the end, when his head snapped back right before he threw the ball off of Duncan's fingertips? I never saw a replay and was wondering about it, actually -- you're saying it was just as much a flop?

And I know this has been said in some threads here before and there's nothing original in stating it again, but after game 2 and after years of reading abuse on LeBron and after the abuse he took after the game 1 cramp, it's worth stating: there are superstars and then there is the awesomeness of watching pure greatness. He is just head and shoulders above in a way that is awe-inspiring. I'm rooting for the Spurs whole-heartedly, but sometimes you just have to tip your cap and count oneself lucky to see a player who is on another level even from the greatest players in the world.

And, yes, apparently I've regressed into being an 8 year old boy.

Ideally, we would see well-ref'd games with little flopping and some good aggressive play, with monumental performances by lebron, a career-ending injury to Wade, and an ultimate Spurs victory in 7 games.

(I can accept lebron's greatness as long as he's not getting handed free throws for nothing...but Wade I cannot abide)

The Spurs went to the line 22x vs Miami's 11 in G1 with them equal in G2. The officiating was not good however it was certainly wasn't favoring Miami or LeBron. As I pointed out Duncan's flop in the paint when a foul was called on LeBron deserved the same fine as Wade's.

Tony, I was referring to Manu "defending" Allen on the break when he threw himself off to the side as if he was the recipient of a Kermit Washington punch prior to Allen throwing down the big dunk.

Well that was only because lebron wasn't in the game at the end of game 1.
I kid... I haven't been able to watch the first two, so I wasn't claiming that lebron WAS favored, I was just saying that moving forward I'd like to see him excel BUT not if it involves a lot of cheap and-one's or free trips to the line. It seems like sometimes part of his excellence involves some ticky tack stuff (but I want to be clear tht he's also an amazing and superlative player).

True. All games have ticky tack... I'd just rather see no ticket tack (especially involving lebron) than 'fair and balanced ticky tack' fouls.

Bonner is the first big off the bench instead of Splitter.  Looks like Pop won't play Duncan and Splitter together unless he has to.

Lebron keeping Miami in this.  Chalmers is ice cold right now -- couldn't happen to better guy.

James Jones has no business in this game.  Is Battier dead again?  It's amazing how quickly they Heat go away from him in the playoffs.

It's amazing Diaw was so fat and lazy in Charlotte and now the key cog in the Spurs small ball lineup.

I never liked Chalmers at all but right now he's playing himself out of the league. Horrendous.

Most awe-inspiring athletes I've been able to watch:

Bonds, Pedro, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Woods, Jordan, and LeBron. For some reason NFL players don't provoke this feeling. Maybe because they barely resemble human beings. Brady-Moss in 2007 was the closest.

Spurs can't lose this game now.  They absolutely have to close it this out as odd as that sounds to start the 2nd quarter.

That was a horrible 3 seconds call.
I thought so too. It was like he was going to call a travel but the realized splitter but it on the floor so came up with the 3 second call to bail himself out
