It's today, at 4pm (KO is at 4:10pm, I believe) on Fox, Fox Deportes, and non-paywalled on Apple TV.

It should be a good one. Columbus, I think, will be the favorites on the basis of home-field advantage. The East was stronger than the West this year, so pretty much any actual contender from the East that made it to MLS Cup was going to host. Columbus plays good soccer under arguably the best coach in the league, Frenchman Wilfried Nancy. He did great things with Montreal and he's continued his work in Columbus. He gets everything out of his players and his teams are committed to quality possession soccer.

The Crew have one of the best forwards in the league in Colombian Cucho Hernandez. The Darlington Nagbe / Aidan Morris combo in the midfield is very strong, especially if Morris (the less consistent of the two) is on his game; Morris has been a big game player in the past, coming out of nowhere to dominate the 2020 MLS Cup. The Crew's defense can pass, but they're a little suspect defensively, especially on set pieces. Nancy has relied on Patrick Schulte, a young goalkeeper, who has gotten better as the year has progressed but still has his ups and downs.

LAFC have a ton of talent, but will likely cede possession. On their way to MLS Cup, they have waited out possession-heavy teams like Seattle and Houston, and beaten them with counterattacking prowess. Now, they'll have to do the same against an even better possession-heavy team in the Crew. Gabonian winger Denis Bouanga was an MVP finalist and has had a huge season. Carlos Vela isn't what he was, but he's still there. The team is so solid defensively, in the midfield, and the goalkeeping has gotten better as Maxime Crepeau returned from long-term injury.

Crepeau was definitely the hero against Seattle, coming up with a few tremendous saves to keep the Sounders off the scoreboard.

An LAFC win would cement them as one of the great dynasties in MLS history and make last year's "lucky" win not as important. LAFC has lost a lot of huge games and needed an absolute last gasp goal a year ago from Bale to sneak past Philly.

Columbus is so tough. I think they will likely win as Cucho and company are just really, really good and have the ability to rally (as evidenced in the semis against Cincy).

As an aside, having to root for Columbus sucks. Partly because of their dismantling of the Sounders in the 2020 Cup. At least Porter isn't their coach anymore, I suppose.

The Crew play such good soccer.

Penalty awarded on a relatively unlucky handball by an LAFC defender.

Cucho sends Crepeau the wrong way and buries it in the corner. 1-0 Crew.

That second goal was great. Fantastic pass from Malte Amundsen, a backup fullback that NYCFC discarded at the beginning of the season, and who Nancy transformed into an effective starting LCB.

LAFC fullback Ryan Hollingshead, who made fun of Houston's tiki-taka style by saying they couldn't do anything with it, got burned by Amundsen's pass and Yeboah's run.

I was wondering if the Crew's intensity would fall off in the second half, but so far it has not.

Bouanga gets one back for LAFC. Schulte made the save, but couldn't clean up the rebound. Sets up some drama in the last 15 minutes.

Be nice if we could get more than 30 seconds of uninterrupted soccer without a stoppage.

LAFC continues to shit the bed in big games. Pretty unbelievable, to be honest.

Also, it's hilarious that Montreal got rid of Nancy and then he immediately wins a title. Well deserved for Columbus.

Montreal would have kept Nancy, but Nancy was sick of Joey Saputo and wanted out. The Crew went after him, and paid an undisclosed fee for him.

It's typical Montreal behavior. They fired Jesse Marsch after their expansion season (which was totally acceptable for an expansion year), right before he did really well with NYRB.

Deserved win for the Crew. Refs did everything they could to keep LAFC in this and that was pretty outrageous for a cup final. MLS is clown show. Garber getting booed big time as usual.

That said, I love old friend Nagbe so much.
