It's pretty much sold out without a Groupon. Last check, there's maybe 500 tickets left.

Not sure if I'm the only one who listens to the Extra Time podcast or not, but I'm at a bar in Seattle ready to have beers with the hosts at a fan thing.

I was here for the 2019 MLS Cup and this feels more intense. Part of that is the game time (the Cup was at noon) and part because the weather is much better than December.

How was the ETR crew in person?

They were pretty cool. David Gass is the main guy I talked to. Interesting to hear their unfiltered thoughts on everything MLS.

I’m in the front row of the Pumas section and definitely the only gringo here. I feel back in Mexico City. My god I love this.

Oh man, Joao Paulo is going to come off and be replaced by 16 year old Obed Vargas.

Not ideal for the Sounders.

Another Sounders player down. Is Pumas being super physical?
Looks to me like Pumas want to play on the edge to unsettle the Sounders. Ref needs to keep a grip on things, not let the emotions of the big match take over.

A little possession seems to have settled Seattle a bit.

Huge. Still a lot of soccer left. The Sounders have adjusted to the big loss of Joao Paulo reasonably well.

3-0!

This is like watching MLS in CCL in reverse. Pumas has nothing in the tank, and Seattle is putting them to the sword at the end of the game.

It's finally happening.

Incredible. What a way to close it out by a couple of Sounders’ legends.

now Liverpool & Madrid get to play for the honor of squaring off against an MLS squad in the Club World Cup!

What an incredible game and an incredible atmosphere. So lucky to be here tonight.

Deserved champions. Sounders dominated throughout.

I have been watching CONCACAF club championships since 2007. Every single time, MLS teams were either outclassed (most of the time) or found a way to lose (some of the time). This has been a long time coming, and I think it's unlucky that it hasn't happened already. But it sure is nice to see one of these tournaments end in a W for our league. Seattle did a great job tonight and throttled Pumas at the end, even with some huge setbacks early in the first half with the injuries.

The scheduling format has finally tilted in favor of MLS. Pumas has been playing literally twice per week since February. (Their only off time was due to the tragic events during the Atlas at Queretaro match.) They were completely wiped at the end.

The Club World Cup is a tremendous opportunity for MLS to show its worth. As I mentioned upthread, Nouhou has already erased Mo Salah. Obviously MLS clubs don’t have nearly the depth of the opposition (now imagine Kelyn Rowe trying to mark Salah) but they can impress in a one-off game.

I have a hot take. If the league keeps improving and there are more events like last night, plus USMNT is back on the radar, MLS is gonna pass MLB in terms of popularity in this country in the next 20 years.

I’m on a plane so not sure if this is going to post, but I’m in the front row right above the “AS” in PUMAS in the hoodie/hat.

Just catching up on the Fire match, and I’m fucking gutted for Miles Robinson. Here’s hoping it’s not as serious as it looked, but damn. He’s just hitting his prime.

I'm taking my daughter to her first Sounders game since Sigi's last game as Seattle's coach.

Hoping Seattle has a better showing tomorrow.

It's very good for MLS that they have seemingly won the race to get Messi's retirement tour, beating out Newell's Old Boys, various arabic clubs, and the Chinese league. Way to go.

Hey @67YAZ this is a pretty sweet goal by Mueller:

How are the Fire doing so far this season?
Love it! This team needs an attacking spark.

They started pretty well with 9 points in their first 5 matches playing a very conservative style. Then the league started to adjust to the tactics and a couple injuries hit - Czichos has been the key cog defensively since the day camp started & Shaqiri is all the creativity, so those injuries have been killers. It’s been 1 point from the last 6 matches.

But everyone healthy now and the Fire added 2 new attackers this month in Mueller & Torres. We need to see how Hendrickson adjusts and how the new guys bed in. Lot of season still to go.

And Maine’s own Wyatt Omsberg just scored his first career goal!

Omsberg was definitely a surprise starter when the season began, but he has proven a good partner for Czichos. When the big C is out, though, Omsberg has looked lost.
