He also walked 2 people that inning. No hits, no runs, though.
Not doing much...except getting called up to AAA...Corey Rosier promoted to AAA.

I was seeing speculation that it might be Rafaela because they only had like 11 active hitters at Worcester & 2 are hurt (Valdez/Sogard), but looks like they chose Rosier instead.
Rosier is 23 & was acquired along with Eric Hosmer & Max Ferguson in the Jay Groome trade.
Groome has a 9.80 ERA & 2.263 ERA in AAA this year in the Padres organization.
Ferguson is 23 & in A+ ball doing not much other than stealing bases (23 of 27). He was 61 of 66 last year, though
Extension, explosion...EddinsonEddinson ejects effortlessly?
Paulino pounds pelota?

Yeah, AAA has been a bit rough, but otherwise it's been pretty awesome at all levels for a while now. After a pretty slow start this has been one of the best MILB seasons up and down the system I can remember, even down to guys like Murphy and Walter somehow improving upon stepping up to the bigs.
Yep. Checking box scores has become a nightly ritual. But seriously, between AA and AAA, where are they going to play all of these infielders? After a pretty slow start this has been one of the best MILB seasons up and down the system I can remember, even down to guys like Murphy and Walter somehow improving upon stepping up to the bigs.
I know my alliteration got a bit out of control tonight but these seems somewhat harsh lolAnyone thinking Bloom needs to go needs to be forced to read this thread 10x’s as penance.
I think that the logic of drafting infielders is that, as coming up, most elite players are going to play the highest skill positions. Their skills are going to be easier to transfer elsewhere giving the team a lot more organization flexibility. Given 3B is covered for quite a long time and that 2B probably falls into that bucket with a bit less certainty, this gives them a few nice lottery tickets at finding our SS for the next seasons and allows the Sox to fill out their outfield (atleast depth-wise) internally.Yep. Hopefully a good problem to have. At some point, if this depth maintains, Chaim will need to convert some prospects to MLB talent. Hopefully, he picks the right ones.I think that the logic of drafting infielders is that, as coming up, most elite players are going to play the highest skill positions. I'm as big of a Braze fanboy as you'll find but where the hell will be play if Casas works out? He's going to have to absolutely mash over the next few years otherwise he's probably trade fodder.
The dream is to have such a steady progression that the prospects are the MLB talent, but yeah, we'll see how it all plays out.Hopefully a good problem to have. At some point, if this depth maintains, Chaim will need to convert some prospects to MLB talent. Hopefully, he picks the right ones.
CoffeyUpdate:
Coffey now officially "HOT".

I know he's only in A, but he really is fun to dream on. He looks nasty.Perales is fun to watch.
Yeah, from everything I've seen he has the highest ceiling in the system, but obviously still a long way away.I know he's only in A, but he really is fun to dream on. He looks nasty.
I'm pretty sure the ball was past the hitter before it came out of Perales' hand in that second video.I know he's only in A, but he really is fun to dream on. He looks nasty.
Good day for BVB - 6 innings, 1 run, 5 hits, no walks, 8 strikeouts.AA - Brian Van Belle
BVB, 26, is 6'3 & attended the University of Miami after some time at Broward College & went undrafted in the truncated 2020 draft. He signed with Red Sox for a $20k signing bonus & started the '21 season in High A Greenville.
He had 18 starts with a 4.10 ERA, & started '22, his age 25 season, still in A+. Despite poor results (6.14 ERA), he was promoted to AA Portland where he found a bit more success, logging a 4.69 ERA in 15 starts (16 games). 80 k's & 12 bb in 78.1 IP. He led all Red Sox minor leaguers with 130.1 IP last year, just ahead of Chris Murphy.
He started this season in Portland where, despite doubling his bb rate while decreasing his k rate, he has put together a solid season - 2.70 ERA in 70 IP. He has drastically reduced opponent's BABIP & home run rate.
BVB is currently #59 on the Sox Prospects top 60 & has been solid lately.

I'm guessing he changed something significant to completely change his profile this season, but not really sure what.
He has not changed his girlfriend lately. He has been dating Adriana for 7 years.

Turns 27 in September, but may be able to eventually become usable swing depth, especially if he can get his walk rates back down while harnessing whatever he has figured out.
Just from reading this thread I feel like the 2026orAND 2027 Red Sox have a chance to go undefeated.
Sorry, should I tone it down?Just from reading this thread I feel like the 2026 or 2027 Red Sox have a chance to go undefeated.
NO! I really appreciate your updates. It wasn't a knock on you, it's just (guarded) excitement about the state of the Sox's farm system. Please keep it up -- you're doing SoSH a real service.Sorry, should I tone it down?

Here's your 1% bad...Today's Minor League starters...

AAA - Jake Faria
Faria turns 30 next month. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the 10th round in 2011 & in 2017 rose to 8th in the Rays prospect rankings (Baseball America).
In his 1st Major League start in July 2017, he allowed 1 run in 6.1 innings & he became the 9th pitcher in MLB history to begin his career with 7 or more QS. He ended the season Ruth a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts.
It's been all downhill from there, though, as he battle oblique injuries in Tampa, was traded to the Brewers, & then kicked around the Angels, DBacks & Twins, with poor results in each stop.
The Red Sox acquired him as a minor league free agent in February. He spent one day on the Major League roster when Chris Martin was injured but did not pitch. He cleared waivers & returned to Worcester.
He has a 5.86 ERA in 43 innings over 16 games (6 starts). His main issue seems to be that he is walking 5 per 9 IP.
Faria, who is of Portuguese & Cuban descent, had 1.6 bWAR in his rookie reason...& -0.6 bWAR since.
He is from CA & currently lives in Las Vegas during the off season with his wife of 4 years, Jess.

These updates are definitely 99% the good & have been mostly wilfully ignoring the bad, but meh.
I want him to make it only so there can be a “rally towel” like movement with people wearing bear claws on their hands.Bear Claw!

NGL...change-up at 88 & fastball at 89 sounds unsustainable, though.
