The affidavit says he stood over her, and then squatted. Then says Naughtright pushed Manning's ass "up and out of her face".
That is not what the affidavit said. It did not say that Naughright pushed Manning's ass. Now, Manning's behavior was very clearly wrong, but I am interested in knowing the truth of what happened. Manning, Saxon, and Naughright each have a different story. I'm most inclined to believe Saxon since he was not directly involved in the incident, but I think it's still unclear.

Manning was facing away from her and squatting above her with his ass on or near her face. Use your imagination. What part of his body do you imagine she might have pushed to get out of that position?

Saxon has said that this was not a mooning, and he never described it as a mooning. What do you think he meant by that?

Even bothering to hash out whether she was 100% correct or merely 75% correct about his assault is to implicitly side with Manning. And then pointing to a couple of lawsuits filed a decade later that relate to personal injury as evidence that her credibility is questionable, when you don't even know the substance of the lawsuits, suggests that you want to believe Manning's side of the argument or just brush this whole thing off because the woman is some sort of money-hungry lunatic, which is just misogynistic.

She was sexually assaulted. Full stop.
Manning engaged in efforts to smear her after she reported him. Full stop.
Manning violated several agreements to not discuss the incident. Full stop.

And you're questioning her credibility on the details of the encounter?
Like you, I'm inclined to believe her version of events. In fact, she ought to be treated the same as other sexual assault victims by the media -- for example, I don't think the media should be using her name, even though it appears in court filings.

In this particular community, however, I don't think we should be shaming people who raise questions or hold contrarian views. Short of the tape referenced in the Daily Caller piece being authenticated by a credible third party, I don't see myself changing my mind about the victim's credibility, but I'm OK with people talking about the details of the incident, the lawsuits she has filed, and so on. We over analyze things here; it's what we do. I'm confident that the vast majority of us can put these extraneous facts in proper perspective. And frankly, when someone raises those facts and suppositions in casual conversation, I'll be better prepared to explain why they don't really raise doubts about the core facts of the case because I read all about those facts and suppositions here first.

Lol, so in your previous post in this thread, did you add the words squatted on purpose? And then you did you add the part about her pushing Manning's ass up and out of her face on purpose? Notice that I did you accuse you of deliberately changing the meaning. The affidavit is a scanned document so we can't cut and paste, and we both made mistakes transcribing.

I agree that what Manning did was a sexual assault. I'm just trying to figure out whether or not Naughright's claim about him putting his naked butt and rectum on her face is true, at this point I'd say it probably isn't.
I still can't believe no one is running with the real story here... Manning apparently has trunk butt or a magical external rectum.

It's not directly related to Manning, but SI just published an article on the University of Tennessee athletic program and their (alleged) history of sexism.

The short version is this: not only does UT appear to have a history of turning a blind eye towards misbehavior committed by star athletes, but they encourage a culture of intimidation and retribution from the top aimed at those who dare to report such infractions.

Some of the more damming comments are from people in a position to know the veracity of the allegations. Tim Rogers, a 38 year UT employee who resigned in 2013 was head of the office that investigated student misconduct. In his letter of resignation, he blasted the UT Chancellor, President and Athletic Director for creating a culture that placed both students and the integrity of the institution in peril. Another telling comment is from a former associate general counsel of the university, who indicates that the school is more concerned with bad p.r. than with protecting it's students.

http://www.si.com/college-football/2016/02/24/tennessee-athletic-department-title-ix-lawsuit-dave-hart-peyton-manning

As I said, this is not directly related to the allegations against Manning. But it does place Naughright's allegations and the school's reaction in a different content.

This is so cozy. Former teammate, who is currently a cop, reaches out to Peter King, through Manning representatives, 19 years after the fact. I bet there were arguments between King and Archie when King handed the piece to Klemko.

Now THAT'S how you write a character assassination piece...

With all of these inside sources saying that Naughright was inappropriate and vulgar at UT (Johnson, Kohl, McNeely), why did the Mannings settle the lawsuit in 2003?

Klemko is sitting on a very juicy piece where he interviews the Manning family doctor and Peyton's high school trainer who guarantee he never took HGH

My favorite part of this piece is Klemko on Twitter went off on Shaun King for being "wildly irresponsible" and not "vetting his sources". While King's sources were sworn affadavits, Klemko proceeds to release a story where his key witnesses and figures are Peyton's fucking college roommate and a trainer that Naughright accused of being a huge part of the cover-up (all of whom weren't under oath). Way to go Robert! That is some real hard hitting journalism there!

Is this the same Klemko who said on Twitter "take all of their picks away" after the incorrect Mortensen report? Fucking joke.
One and the same. Also the same upstanding citizen who was accused of getting into a verbal altercation with a cab driver, punching him out and then stealing his cab in 2014

Exactly. This smells like a PR campaign orchestrated by Team Manning to continue the smear by using a "supposed eyewitness" to the event who for reasons unknown was never questioned or mentioned in the original complaint.

Oh he had a reason. He was off fighting the good fight in the Middle East.

They picked the perfect vessel. Witness is a cop, veteran, and conveniently absent at any other time he could have previously spoken up.

I also love how Peter is trying to position this as the great work Klemko did investigating this when it comes out that Manning's team put the witness in contact with him.

I guess in Peter's world of "journalism" getting in close enough with people that you cover that they just give you stories and you really don't have to do a lot of work that is yeoman's work.

How was it not mentioned that Johnson never came forward from 1996-1997 (article says he left in 1998)? If he was in there and saw this, he could have helped Peyton out. He never once volunteered this info or offered to testify or anything? The fact that Klemko never asks about this and just brushes it aside is incredible.

Exactly, like signing an affidavit while you're deployed is against the law or something. If this guy had anything to help Peyton prior to him paying her and signing a gag order, they would have flown a notary over there on a private jet to get this guy to sign a statement.

Yeah, this pretty much exactly fit's with Petyon's MO - sending goons to witnesses houses, coercion, threats, the repeated smears. Its amazing how much the post-HGH maneuvering lines up with the sexual assault stuff.

Peyton Manning knew the question about his future was hanging out there, so he figured he'd address it before he began his speech on leadership at the Florida Forum on Wednesday night.

As soon as the applause died down from his introduction, Manning somberly looked out at the audience and drew a deep breath.

"Many of you have probably heard that I have a significant announcement to make, so I thought I'd go ahead and make it with all of you here tonight," Manning said. "Papa John's is offering 50 percent off tonight through Friday.

"I'm sure that was the response you were looking for."
Seriously, fuck this guy

@mortreport Filed to ESPN: Five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning will announce his retirement Monday in Denver per source familiar with the QB's decision

Even his retirement news is a PR sham.

All the writers on twitter are ball washing Mort for this story. Come on he's been the Manning family mouthpiece since he entered the league. If he didn't break this story it would have been an upset.

It makes no sense to retire on Monday. If he retires now but decides to come back in a year, he will have to work it out with the Broncos. It makes much more sense to force the Broncos to release him first. That way if things change in the future, his options are much more open.

Also: the notion that Ari Fleischer was behind the idea of Manning giving this exclusive to a cancer victim to make him look better in the face of sexual assault and PED allegations is nauseating.

The ball washing of Manning on ESPN right now is insufferable.
So...normal telecast? Yes?

I just wonder who will sponsor his retirement press conference.

It's amazing that this scandal has been completely swept under the rug and no one gives it a second thought. Goodell and Mannings PR team has done one hell of a job.

So the HGH "investigation" gets swept under the rug and completely forgotten along with the sexual assault allegations. How convenient! I never ever thought there was a possibility of Manning playing again. It is just so frustrating that the public will never know the "true" Manning. The aw shucks country boy facade is such a sham but middle America will never know the truth.

I'm willing to bet anyone $100 to the Jimmy Fund, that before the season reaches game 8, there will be a 'legitimate' (wait I'm looking for a better word) 'regularly employed by a national organization' news mouthpiece (King, Mort, Shefter, etc.) that breaks the story that Manning if feeling great and throwing the ball around in hopes that a team will be interested in him coming out of retirement. Book it.

No way. This isn't some country hick like Favre (who would still be playing now if he could), he just tries to sound like one. He and his business team are too smart for that. Plus, he knows he's done and any comeback would lead to more HGH and other questions he doesn't want to deal with. He'll smartly transition into some kind of management and/or media position. He's better suited to life after football at this point in his life and he knows it.

Disgusting.

This shouldn't be surprising that Roger essentially called him the best. The tounge baths he's been receiving today have just been disgusting. More or less that statement sums up the NFLs investigation into the HGH incident. HGH isn't a big issue but if your balls aren't inflated we throw the book at you! Most backwards league out there.

Oh Manning. Sometimes you make it hard to hate you

“@MikeReiss: Peyton Manning: ”I’ll even miss the Patriot fans in Foxboro. And they should miss me, because they sure did get a lot of wins off of me.“”

“@MikeReiss: On ESPN’s ”NFL Insiders“ show, @mortreport says that one of the first people Peyton Manning called about his retirement was Tom Brady.”

“@AlbertBreer: Peyton Manning: ”I’ll miss that handshake with Tom Brady.“”

He is still easy to hate. For example, why would Patriots fans miss him if the team we root for got a lot of wins off of him?
